View Full Version : at exactly 7:50 PM tonight.. Nebe 03-19-2010, 06:42 PM if you look up in the sky, you might be able to see the space shuttle for 3 minutes.. sorry for the short notice :hihi: Rob Rockcrawler 03-19-2010, 06:43 PM 7 minutes notice is enough for me thanks eben. Ive always missed it in the past. thefishingfreak 03-19-2010, 06:52 PM it just landed at logan thefishingfreak 03-19-2010, 06:53 PM there's another one right behind it too Rob Rockcrawler 03-19-2010, 06:55 PM I think i saw it. Moving mostly west to east, and hauling ass. I didnt think the shuttle needed lights, not a lot of air traffic up that high. Nebe 03-19-2010, 06:59 PM yup that was it and it was cruising!!!! Rob Rockcrawler 03-19-2010, 07:15 PM That thing must have been cruising, at that altitude, seeing it for 3 minutes... Rob Rockcrawler 03-19-2010, 07:19 PM 17187.356 mph. What a ride. Nebe 03-19-2010, 07:42 PM any faster and it goes out of orbit into space.. any slower and it starts to fall. Nebe 03-19-2010, 10:58 PM I was wrong- that was the international space station. If you have an iPhone, there are some awesome apps for tracking visable satelites. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device PRBuzz 03-20-2010, 07:10 AM if you look up in the sky, you might be able to see the space shuttle for 3 minutes.. sorry for the short notice :hihi: I saw it what a view, the brightest thing in the sky after the moon. Just a slight correction, it is not the space shuttle but the space station. Nebe 03-20-2010, 07:33 AM yup.. nebe was wrong. spence 03-20-2010, 09:14 AM I don't think there are any more night launches planned. We had a stellar view of a night launch from RI a few years ago... I've never seen a real launch up close, but did catch one from Merrit Island. Was down at the Sea Ray plant and just before the countdown the entire company want outside and stood on the roof to watch :) -spence Nebe 03-20-2010, 09:18 AM for those who missed this, it will be overhead agian at exactly 8:13pm.. traveling from west to east. kids are fascinated by this stuff. :) PRBuzz 03-20-2010, 09:22 AM Did anyone else catch the passage a year or so ago where the station and the shuttle were both visible? The shuttle had just undocked from the station for it's return to earth. Now that was a sight! tynan19 03-20-2010, 02:58 PM Believe we saw that last Fri in Maine around the same time. Just a bright object going West to East and definitely not a plane. Too big and at a greater altitude then the planes we could see. Cool site for sure. Redsoxticket 03-20-2010, 05:35 PM I think i saw it. Moving mostly west to east, and hauling ass. I didnt think the shuttle needed lights, not a lot of air traffic up that high. Lights ? The light is the reflection of the sun's rays. PRBuzz 03-20-2010, 06:11 PM thin clouds tonight as last night was perfectly clear! Nebe 03-20-2010, 07:21 PM nice clear view in newport.. so cool vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
