(no I am not speaking this, yet)

I realized recently that Windows Vista has a built-in speech recognition utility. Anyone try it? What do you think about it?

I just started playing with it but I think there is a long learning curve, both for the computer to recognize my voice and me to remember the allowable commands.

You're first issue is still being on Vista, I thought better of you.:jump1:

In all honesty, I've been using Vista for well over a year now and had no clue there was voice recognition.

I'm debating paying the $119 to upgrade to Win7 but as of yet can't justify. My daughter just got a new 'puter loaded with Win7 so I'll see what it looks like at least. I hate upgrading OS without a hard disk format.........and I'm not willing to do that yet!

I tried Dragon V2! Hated it but it was mostly a limitation of the hardware available at the time, a 386 processor and 64K of RAM.:biglaugh:

I know numerous drs. etc that use it to do their work. I only wish I could also set up their pc's

Dragon used to bog down the computer. I haven't tried it in recent history , say 10 years. It worked good even back then but you needed lots of memory and it still made all the other applications come to a crawl.

Damned good concept though , you talk--it types. They'll get it staright someday where its totally accurate and just another program running in the background.

its pretty good in 7, there is a long tutorial that you have to go through ( a few times) to get how it works. I do feel silly talking to my computer though :)
