View Full Version : Here they are!! Opinions???
Bernzy 02-26-2003, 07:06 PM Mr. Habs and I recently aquired a number of these "Polish Plugs"
I have been using them for the last 8 years in RI. They have proven to be more productive than other similar style plugs that I have used.
They are built for the salt, with wooden construction, thru wire, heavy duty split rings and 4X VMC trebles.
The paint and finish are awesome. They are 7" long and weigh 2 1/8 oz.
Habs has asked me to post some pics, so here they are:
Whadya think??

Mike P 02-27-2003, 07:43 AM Do they run right on top like a Redfin, or down a foot or so like a Bomber?

When casting, you can work the upper 3 feet or so of the water column, depending on the rate of retrieve.
Being wood, they are very buoyant.

bloocrab 02-28-2003, 08:51 AM I'm not sure I see what everyone else seees
...they don't look more than average.
Bernzy, since you say you fish these....what makes them stand ABOVE the rest??
Krispy 02-28-2003, 08:55 AM ...they don't look more than average.
Other than the weight, which is nice, why would I expect to pay $20 over a $6-7 Megabait thats 1 3/4oz

Bloo, There are several things about these plugs that I think sets them apart from other similar style lures.
1. The profile is larger ( back to belly ) than similar length plastic baits, which imitates more closely the bigger baitfish species in the northeast.
2. The action falls somewhere between the tighter wiggle of a Bomber or a Mambo and the exaggerated waggle of Pikie type plugs which is unique, IMHO.
3. The wood constuction (on the ones we have) gives it greater buoyancy than plastic, allowing you more flexibility when working the upper part of the water column.
4. The hardware is heavy duty, thru wire, 4X vmc trebles and HD split rings.
5. The paint and finish are second to none.
6. They catch fish
Hab's also has fished these plugs, so he may chime in with his thoughts.

Krispy 02-28-2003, 10:49 AM Im always wary about those Lexan lips in wood. How are they attached?

The lexan lips are .175" thick and are epoxied.

JHABS 02-28-2003, 01:15 PM BLOO, THESE BAITS are bigger than average BOMBER style plugs they are as close to real size herring as you can get in a PLUG of that style. I like how they SWIM and are a TOP QUALITY PLUG. If you want big this is them. WOULD the HAB GUY STEER YOU WRONG................;)
Krispy 02-28-2003, 01:20 PM
