Okay you tech guys, I am the furthest removed from being a tech guy at all ... but just got an alert supposedly from Hotmail ...

... there is a claim of congestion from anonymous hotmail registrations, and they are shutting down accounts randomly ... including the possibility of mine ...

... apparently to avoid from having my account shuttered, I have to enter:

*my name
* my password
*date of birth
* country

Seems fishy to me ... any thoughts on this?

Thanks

This falls into the "if you have to ask" category...

Simple rules, rarely if ever will any legitimate website ask for information without having you go to their site and verify your identity there first.

And any link to a logon page is also suspect.
