I found an error in what I had paid for excise tax for the 4th quarter 2009 when I did my 2009 taxes. The error was 45.60 so I filed an amended excise return and paid the tax last month.
Today I get a letter in the mail from the IRS with a bill for .11 in interest.

Doesn't the gov get a bulk rate postage discount? I do know sending in 1 penny at a time will cost $4.84 in postage (no discount)!:uhuh:
No sense in billing since computerized: computer only knows "0" everything OK, you owe send a bill, gov owes send a check.......:wall:

sending one penny at a time
but #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& shouldn't have to pay that
wondering if we all could make 484 penny donations
to the #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& excise tax foundation :grins:
and them claim it as a tax deduction
to be JUST as frivolous as they are.

BE happy you didn't have a penalty. Any time you pay a tax late there is an interest charge.

Maybe send them a bill for your time, for doing THEIR job to begin with!
