By law this year, they cannot take any menhaden until there is a minimum of 2 million pounds in the Bay. I believe the Sakonnet is considered part of the Bay. No?

You can check NOAA's National Data Center Buoys for temps at this site, if you don't already have it, you might want to bookmark it - just click on the location nearest to you

NDBC - Station NWPR1 (http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=nwpr1)

So the herring are honeymooning, and pogies are en route...and squid are not too far off, either, but the comm netters aren't getting any fluke so far so don't go digging for your squid jigs quite yet

But....:soon:

"There is no royal road to this heavy surf-fishing. With all the appliances for comfort experience can suggest, there is a certain amount of hard work to be done and exposure to be bourne as a part of the price of success." From "Striped Bass," Scribner's Magazine, 1881.

Cool quote!
