so i go to 'ndl' this am .i c birds n bait as i wade out i c a school of bait coming right at me w/ fish busting behind them pushing the school .i make a short cast and snag 2 pogies on 1 trebble hook, the school was that thick.i let the pogies go and start casting behind the fleeing pogies ,only to catch the blue eye devils .....3 of them about 6-7lbs earlyest i can remember on cape ,but there was 3or4 big schools of pogies w/ crashing fish feedin on them........it was great watching it........

I have written it in the magazine for years...the first full weekend in May has been the first blues in the usual locations for...update form my log book...11 of the past 14 years...this year we know the growing season and nature are at least a week ahead...blues showing up now is not insane...just confirmation that the seasons is ahead of schedule by about a week

They usually show down near South Cape beach/Cotuit first week of May, so only a few days early I guess.

Last night, Seamule and I ran into some 5 to 8 pounders on the cape. I fish this same spot the last week of April every year and have never caught a blue. At least my first fish was a little schoolie bass, so I got that out of the way. Then the blues took over. It was fun to be into good size fish that put up a fight at this time of year.

And JohnR, I'm gonna need you to send my son some more cocahoes. The blues did a little damage to the ones he got from you at the show.:grins:
