View Full Version : First canal bike. . . . but . .
MAKAI 05-09-2010, 07:18 AM As my knees are too beat up to walk as far as I used to, I can still ride. This is my first try at a canal bike. Rock solid and tracks straight, 2 bolts attach to bike for easy on and off.
But it's a little top heavy not too bad though, would like to try side baskets.
Where do you find the nice heavy gauge side saddle deep baskets ? My bike guy does not carry anything like that.
afterhours 05-09-2010, 07:20 AM gotta love canal biking! i think the bennys in bourne has the baskets...you take glucosamine/chondroitin for the knees?
keeperreaper 05-09-2010, 07:24 AM Looks good to me.
BigFish 05-09-2010, 07:29 AM Bob! Cedarville Cycle in Cedarville/Plymouth! Next time you fish the canal run up 3A from Sag and its up on your right! They have larger baskets than Benny's...about $40! He will throw them on right there too!:uhuh:

It's top heavy due to those Van Staals. I'll take them off your hands and you can have a couple lighter weight Stradics. Btw, where does your 18-year old friend ride?
MAKAI 05-09-2010, 10:10 AM Are those with or without the corrosion.
She rides close to my heart as always.
The Dad Fisherman 05-09-2010, 11:43 AM Check craigslist too for the baskets...thats where i got mine for $20 I think....newspaper boy basket
O.D. Mike 05-09-2010, 12:11 PM Another place to check is the dump. People throw the weirdest things away....
teleman 05-09-2010, 02:10 PM Bike Barn on rt 18 in Whitman. Newpaper carrier basket. Get a rear mount kickstand to.
jimmy z 05-09-2010, 02:33 PM A bike is not a bad idea, for anyone. It beats walking from point A to point B.
I think ya did a fine job!:)
capequahog 05-09-2010, 05:17 PM the rear side baskets will kill the top heavy, I like the step thru(girls) bike for a canal cruiser, easy on and off
bigken774 05-09-2010, 06:05 PM bennys in fairhaven still has plenty too
bloocrab 05-09-2010, 09:44 PM It's funny though, a tool that makes you more mobile, yet you end up spending less time actually fishing. Sometimes I wonder, ......although it is nice to follow a school of surfacing fish...hoping they get within range.
Btw - Nice bike.
keeperreaper 05-11-2010, 05:01 AM bart's new ride.
Backbeach Jake 05-11-2010, 05:18 AM Another place to check is the dump. People throw the weirdest things away....

It's like raking leaves.
You can stay in one spot hoping to rake all the leaves you can, or move around the yard a bit to get some more.:)
In reality it is to just give me a little distance from the crowd.
