Headed to Truro for the weekend with my son (9) and his friends. Just wondering if the schoolies have arrived out there yet. We're shore bound on the bay in N. Truro and will likely drive out to Hatches and the Race as well.

Already have been fish on the bay side from shore....some fish on ocean side from boats but only a couple from shore so far on ocean side that I've heard about. You could always talk to Rich at Nelson's to get the latest.

But the big push of smaller fish usually hits the ocean side any day now. I've had 60 fish days on the beaches several different years around 5/15-5/18. If you hit it on the right day, a swimmer with a red gill teaser will get you schoolie doubles all day long, with smaller keepers at dusk and dawn. This time of year night vs day doesn't matter all that much. The beauty of fishing there early in the season is that the seals aren't as thick, and the fish are often a bit more spread out, so you aren't in a picket fence line of fishermen with 25 seals bobbing off shore waiting for you to hook up. Downside, of course, is that you are fishing almost exclusively for schoolies and very small keepers.

Keepers off the Bay beaches in Truro, up to 34 inches, have not heard anything from the ocean beaches, but I am sure they are cruising those waters as well.

Ptown Harbor on the boats- Long Pt to Breakwater down to Truro, keepers every day, up to 32 inch, and alot of 26 27 inchers, sand eels in abundance in the waters.

So far so good. Early season numbers are way better than last year. Hopefully last years season was just an anomoly.
These small fish have been my indicator of whats to come for many years now. Big fish are showing as well.

You should be able to find plenty of fish all along the N.Truro beaches on the bay side. Not heard of anything being caught off of the back.
