Went out to catch some tog, but the fishing A/D/D kicked in bigtime when we stumbled across acres of birds and rolling bass.
I was on first (since I'd brought a casting rod with a shad on it to a togging party) with a first cast fish, but there was no curse today. after a few shad caught fish i changed over to aSALTY BUGGER olive needle with a white belly and white bucktail, while Trent tied on a chrome popper. It didn't take long to convince him to take a SB needle out of my box and after a short learning curve which was lengthened by the fact that he was trying to work a needle on a tog rod with a shimano 400 reel... he came tight and the boatwide joy ensued for the rest of the day. It was an absolute fishfest with doubles as the norm. most fish were in the 28- 33 inch class and all were fat and covered with lice.
We finally and reluctantly called it quits totally exhausted ( we're a couple of "mature" men)at 530 and left acres of still hungry fish.
