Needed a new water heater so I bought a replacement same heater with the more efficient Energy saver worth the extra 100 bucks.

Went to get the permit from the town and they say I need a fire inspection and
plumbing inspection for a total of $110. Last time it was $35. :smash:

Plumber comes in and the town had upgraded the code to a 3 inch vent pipe
up the chimney, so he had to run new pipe up the chimney as well.
Plumber's fee $520. WTH.
Over a grand for a 40 gal water heater that i bet won't last 8-10 years. :(

It does suk doesn't it. 8 years ago our dryer died (gas). I shut off the valve and removed the dead one. Had the new one in the basement and all set for the plumber. $150 and it took him less than 10 minutes. Probably would have only taken him 5 minutes but he wanted to shoot the chit.....

In 05 our 40 gal water heater was close to 600 installed with a 7 year guarantee.

With all the government regs and licensing, the EPA and OSHA fines, it almost wants to make you not pull a permit,,,,,, Small business is going to be a thing of the American past.
