Just saw on the news a 50-75 car pileup on Route 95 in Attleboro, and another 25 or so accident on Route 3 near Norwell/Duxbury.

Evidently, there is ice under those snow covered roads.....

TAKE IT SLOW AND BE CAREFUL if you are going out there....

UPDATED: 12:05 p.m. EST March 6, 2003

A pileup involving 50 to 100 cars and trucks has brought traffic to a stop on Interstate 95 in the Attleboro area, state police said.

State police said I-95 southbound has been shut down at Route 123 in order to get ambulances and tow trucks to the scene. Police added the northbound side may be closed shortly.

Police began receiving reports about 11:15 a.m., as slippery roads set off a series of accidents.

Police said injuries have been reported, but it's uncertain how serious they are. Sources tell News Channel 10 at least 15 ambulances are being sent to the crash scene near the Newport Avenue exit.

Crashes have also been reported on Interstate 95 in the Mansfield area.

The snow is expected to continue through the afternoon.

I read on another site that this began when a plow driver lost control and started spinning. Any truth to that?

Don't know as to the cause but Norton just call for one of our busses. That's a 40 min. ride in good weather!

Guys,
I heard on one of the providence radio stations that a plow skidded and sideswiped or crashed into ten cars. Then none of the cars behind the plow could stop. AFAIK 95 is still closed in both directions.

It was a bad day out there.

Not a good choice for me to be delivering $20000 worth of custom cabinets from Middleboro to Weston:smash: needless to say I wasn't in any hurry. picked up 24' box truck at 9:30, loaded it, then we headed out, got there after 1pm , home by 6 pm
Roads were very slick.120mile round trip. glad I'm home, but my back isn't.

No doubt it was a bad day weather wise, nothing to do about that. What makes me crazy is all these drivers flying down the road like it dry and clear out!

Basenjib - welcome to S-B!

Yeh, that commute was fun yesterday, fortunately I parked in Providence instead of RT128 Station...
