Looking for a match-

fishweewee 03-06-2003, 12:54 PM VS 150?
Fin-Nor Ahab 12
Penn 6500
Shimano Sustain 5000
WeeWee, what about a nautil 6500?
mikecc 03-06-2003, 04:13 PM I think with the size guides on the rod you would be beter off with a Penn 4500ss/5500ss or ShimanoStratic 4000/5000,

Bill L 03-06-2003, 06:46 PM If it were ME, I'd try a new Slammer -- don't have any yet but will
Thanks!
What Mike said.

JohnR 03-06-2003, 07:44 PM Stradic 4K
TheSpecialist 03-06-2003, 07:47 PM Get the new Stradic 5000, same body size as the 4000, larger spool. I am getting one this weekend. :D
I have 3 Stradics i cant wait to get the new ones
I use the 6000 for surf and Canal
4000 for schoolies long range
1000 for fresh and reel fun with stripers
Goose 03-06-2003, 07:58 PM my next .....nautil 6500. penn 5500 would also size up well to that rod
bloocrab 03-06-2003, 11:09 PM ...the "Stella" sounds impressive. I haven't touched one yet...but read up on it...YEEEEEEEOWZA on the price though :( ..not in my present budget.
Looks like I'll be paying Mike a visit this month :D
.....you do take credit cards right
JohnR 03-06-2003, 11:44 PM Stradic 4000 is the smaller body - Stradic 5000 is the same body as the 6000.
BEETLE 03-07-2003, 06:23 AM Ditto what John R said, go with the Shimano - that will be a nice set up. ;)

John
the reels use to be that way.
Now the 4000/5000 are the same body ,a little bigger than the old 4000 but smaller than the old 5000.(I Like) and then the new 6000/ 8000 willthe same as the old 6000
JohnR 03-07-2003, 09:16 AM Cool - prices about the same?
mikecc 03-07-2003, 09:19 AM they went up a little but they come with much higher grade bearings and an oil port
Saltheart 03-09-2003, 03:01 PM You got to match the rel spool size to the first guide size. You don't want too big a reel. 4500SS , 712Z , abu 400 size , etc. too big a spool and you'll have problems.
