Where's the weed plants?

ain't worth it....BoB

wouldn't mind having a pound or two for pain management
but i will NOT grow any...

illegal ...i don't do illegal

i enjoy my freedom to much...

i am renting a backhoe to kick the back forty's ASS

and prep it for BEDS and roto-tilling on the tenth of JULY

that'll cost us $350 Bucks....for one DAY
BECAUSE ....its to much to do it manually
via a simple shovel with my arthritic feet...

i'm too old for that now....:uhuh:

especially with new ground... it was a garden long ago but now its been fallow for too long...
2nd mowing today to -> stop the grass

just hauled home 2nd load of free ten foot oak fence posts
to keep the deer out today and yesterday as a matter of fact.
~
i'll still have to sift it thru the 4 x 8 screen set up (sifter )
but i enjoy doing that.... in the wee hours of the morning
it's my form of exercise

TILTH......is the magic word...

it coincides with "fall magic" leaves falling and bringing things into the green house
to mature when frost is expected....

i'll haul fifty van loads of maple leaves to grind up and mulch til the weeds
don't stand a chance....cuz it'll be 6 inches deep...
then worms will flourish and watering will be cut in half.

note: read the Ruth Stout "no work garden book" @ the library

just remember...if anything artificially
drives the price of fuel up
to something outrageous... food prices will be sure to follow.

You tillin' in horse/cow manure to help prep the soil or just leaf compost? That'll be good and smelly in this heat/humidity.

horse manure and cow manure are riddled with weed seed so when ya do that,
your basically planting your garden with weed seeds

they go right thru their digestion system and are still viable
i found this out ....the hard way.... :devil2: over time

every square centimeter had a weed...and it was so damned thick
you might as well throw in the towel.. right then and there...

now, if you trench compost it... meaning, you dig a pit and have it a foot lower
that your top soil then maybe just maybe you can get away with it...but,
i'd only do it if i was spiking it with red worms. i certainly don't trust it to be
"weed free"...thats for SURE!

"human compost" on the other hand that has been ultimately processed
and sterilized (certified safe)
has no weed seeds in it -> at all...

Legend for the photos: "Garden State of Raven"

Think you outproduce the entire state of NJ! I can say that as I grew up in the truck farming capital of the world.

nice Craig. . I gave veggie garden a rest this year. Too busy and tired. I am glad you are splurging on a back hoe to save your back , smart move.

Phil my goal is to Fill the lay down freezer in the cellar with frozen produce before the snow season . Funny thing is ...i haven't even got the S.O.B> down there yet and it's still sitting in the back yard. :rotf2:

I had to remove the exterior doors for optimal clearance and to prevent any damage.

Paul ....the seasons have changed quite a bit....ALMOST seems like there's a drought unless it starts to rain like a bastid in JULY and AUGUST like previous seasons. this tends to wreck everything
by creating wet and humid "warm conditions" that is perfect for black spot mold, fungus whatever the frig it is... rendering it inedible.

Although this might look like something good....
i haven't even scratched the surface yet...
but i'm getting there. :uhuh:
