View Full Version : need recommendations for light tackle tuna charter
Jim in CT 06-29-2010, 12:19 PM I'm primarily a near-shore fisherman targeting stripers, but some friends and I would love to do a charter targeting school bluefin on light tackle. I gather the waters near Stellwagon are productive for this type of fishing.
If anyone can recommend locations, seasons to fish, or charter captains who have expertise in this type of fishing, any info would be appreciated.
Thanks.
JFigliuolo 06-29-2010, 12:41 PM riptide charters. Heard nothing but good stuff.
tlapinski 06-29-2010, 12:42 PM I have heard nothing but positive words about Corey.

I'll disagree with that a bit, but he does catch fish...

I'll defer this to you... I'm really not in the tuna circles. A buddy went out with him and had a great time. read a lot of positives too... but you are much closer to tuna than I.
RIROCKHOUND 06-29-2010, 01:01 PM Not important.
he catches fish.
go w/ who is available, all three mentioned catch fish

I've fished with some, but not all, of the other captains mentioned. Rich has the most patience with "first timers".
Typhoon 06-29-2010, 01:10 PM I'll third Riptide (for catching fish run and gun spinning tackle).
My tax dollars.. another story. :D
I'd recommend myself but at 12 knots, I walk and gun.
fish4striper 06-29-2010, 01:17 PM Go with Dom, check out 360tuna for some reports/info

They do tuna charters in that area - you would need to ask how light the tackle is ;)
BasicPatrick 06-29-2010, 01:55 PM I'll second the group John R mentions if you want to fish N of the Cape
For Light Tackle Tuna off Chatham or out East It's Got Stryper? Charters Capt Alan aka Little Round on this board...he specializes in spinning rod tuna and even make some of the baits many are using...I highly reccomend a trip with Alan

Agree.
Sweetwater 06-30-2010, 05:36 PM Terry Nugent, Riptide Charters has a great reputation. Seen his seminars and seems like he knows his stuff but never fished with him.
I also wanted to mention John Pirie if you're on the north shore On-line Fishing Charters (http://www.olfc.com/) I've fished with John and no one works harder to put you on fish.
Raider Ronnie 06-30-2010, 05:38 PM If you want light tackle (run & gun)
From Chatham, Alan Got Stryper Charters is top notch !
From Green Harbor,
