Swimmer 06-30-2010, 12:17 PM I didn't think it would be difficult after all these years, but when I started shaking hands with my co-workers it did become emotional. Its ironic that everyday we handle deaths that come in many forms, and a myriad of other things that people are unable to do for themselves, but the simple act of walking away was difficult.
My tenure at times was acrimonious, and other times heartwarming, but in the end I have to say it always fullfilling. The last several days quite a few residents that saw my retirement annoucement came into the the station to say hello and goodbye, which was very nice.
My first night on duty, on Christmas of 1974, although not a complete surprise did occur at least that day somewhat without warning. I was working on a survey crew at the time, and had yet to cut my hair to a standard that was acceptable for 1974 policing. So consequently I had an eight pointer on with hair below my ears. Oh well it all worked out and here I am. I have never been an "in the past" type of person, so here goes the next adventure with my wife and all of you. I look forward to it with great anticipation. So as my cell phone greeting message says, " "fish on, lines tight, I'll get back to you", I mean it, fish will be on, lines will be tight, and I'll get back to you. Peace!
Slipknot 06-30-2010, 12:24 PM Congrats Frank!
Enjoy your retirement, you sure earned it.
I'm sure the community will miss you on the job.
Now you'll have time to do all those things you always wanted to do
enjoy :btu:
BigFish 06-30-2010, 01:27 PM Frank...your message actually says....."Lines tight....fish on......" and I hope you find that to be the case always in your retirement Frank! You deserve it! Time to make plugs, time to tie flies and build rods, time to fish.....hopefully just time Frank to do all you want! Just save a little time here and there to fish with me!:uhuh:
Raven 06-30-2010, 02:51 PM hopefully just time Frank to do all you want! Just save a little time here and there to fish with me!:uhuh:
