View Full Version : Awesome Morning!
BigFish 07-05-2010, 11:56 AM Decided to take the yak out on some sweetwater early this am! Got on the water as the sun came up.....first one on it!! Had only had the yak out once so far this season but I can tell you I am gonna wear it out after the fun morning I had this am!!:uhuh: Fished the shadow line on the far side of a favorite pond I have spent alot of time on in the past! Cast in towards a weed bed and had a nice fish on but lost it as it spit me out! Put another cast in there and hooked the first bass pictured on my 1 oz. "Prey" swimmer in yellow! They were diggin' it today! Caught a total of 6 bass between 1-3 1/2 pounds! Bass pictured here is the first one I have gotten in the yak since I bought it!:buds:
BigFish 07-05-2010, 12:03 PM Last fish I got was this 3 1/2 pounder!!! Man when I tell you the plug did not even hit the water it is no exaggeration!! This fish caught the plug like a Beagle catching a dog biscuit!!! Came right up under the plug as it was about to splash like it was hitting a fly!!!! I did not even begin to lift the rod after the cast and he had it in his mouth!!! Nice fight too!!!:fight:
A great morning! Peaceful and calm, deer crashing through the trees close by, osprey hitting the water for breakfast, a hawk floating above me to see what I was up to.....and some great fishing!!! Man you can't beat kayak fishing!!:)

ProfessorM 07-05-2010, 06:56 PM beauty, are you sure you didn't get that on rubber? Was a beauty of a morning.
FishermanTim 07-06-2010, 10:10 AM If you liked fishing first light so much, why not try last light?
I prefer fishing at night, and when I go to my favorite ponds, I'm setting off as everyone else is pulling their boats out.
When fishing the AM, you see the world as it "wakes up", but when you fish the PM, you see when it "shuts down".
It's not always as quiet as you would think, and the fishing can be phenominal!
Just as with stripers, freshwater bass LOVE to hunt at night, and can be caught out in open water. Plus, if the pond you are on has native wildlife, you might encounter them as well. I have come across beavers, muskrats, HUGR snapping turles, Great Blue herons, owls, osprees and loons just to name a few.
As long as you feel comfortable fishing in the dark (as most of us already do) then there isn't much difference except that you need to have more control of your cast. (You may have a hard time judging the distance to the shore, until you eyes become used to the low light surroundings.)
If you haven't already, you should give it a try!
BassDawg 07-06-2010, 12:21 PM nice Larry, Big Fish!!
