My son does not get out with me much anymore due to college,
co-op, work and a couple of girlfriends.

But he had this week off and asked to go fishing. I took a buddy of mine along too. Day was spectacular. Plenty of live bait filled the tank in the AM. Headed to some deeper water and trolled a bit. Then I saw the birds working and it was on. Fish after fish. Most in the 26-34 inch range. He had a blast. Live bait, metals, and top water (my favorite). We did it all. My bud landed a 29 lbr on top water, what fight he had. We lost count of fish.

We left for another spot in deeper water to finish the day. It was slow as the tide was slacked. But we relaxed shot the sheet, ate some lunch and laughed a lot....No hits for a while then ZZZZZZZ....

My buddy's rod went off, he told my son to take it. We knew it was a good size. My buddy almost lost it at the boat getting the net tangled, but got lucky and she swam into the open net.

31 lbs at only 42" Nice FAT fish, and a happy son.
Great day. It was all for him.

Don't know what to tell you about the sunglasses !!!!!!

Boating is expensive and sometimes a PIA but a good day like that on the water with your son is priceless and is more than worth the occasional headaches (that normally occur in your hip pocket area). Memories like that last forever, well after your dead and gone, he will tell his kids about fishing with his Dad.

Well done.

Buy your buddy a beer for telling your son to grab the stick.
