thinking about getting this phone to replace my crackberry, anybody have it and have an opinion on it?

Great reviews - non-existent inventory (production delays) DroidX might be quicker - have one coming next week for work.

what the droid x or the incredible? the x looks cool too, but I've the HTC looks better IMO

Gmail integration is really nice; if you use Gmail you'll almost certainly fall in love. Instant email, calendar, and contact sync. I had no problem migrating from a physical keyboard to a touchscreen. It's a very fast phone especially compared to the original Moto Droid. Speed is basically a non-issue as it's just fast all the time. I've had Blackberries since the screens were monochrome and I don't miss it at all.

The web browser is worlds ahead of Blackberry.

Other then the battery life which is much less then a Blackberry the screen is really awful in bright sunlight. Very tough to see.

The bigger screens of the Evo on Sprint or the new Moto Droid X are nice but I really like the smaller overall size of the Incredible. Those phones just strike me as a bit large.

Pixels are almost the same from the Incredible to the X so what you see is the same, it's just bigger on the bigger screens, which is great if your vision isn't so good. Another argument for the big screen is if you have big fingers. With the bigger screen, you inherently get a bigger keyboard.

I have a blackberry now and have done my research and it looks like "Incredible" is the way to go. I will be upgrading very soon.

1st gen or otherwise I don't think any of the Android based phones are too good when it comes to battery life.

I originally didn't have "Advanced Task Killer" on my phone because it has plenty of processing power. On the original Moto Droid a lot of people use it to keep the phone running fast and not using all the RAM.

But on my phone I use it every once in a while to kill any apps I'm not using to help extend battery life.

You can change update frequency on almost anything, set the screen to auto brightness, lower the time out time on the screen and a bunch of other tweaks and gain some battery life, but don't expect a long lived phone due to all it's doing in the background.

Unless you're really tough on the phone (lots of talking, wi-fi use and GPS running all day, etc) it'll make it through the day easily. I usually top off morning and evening and rarely run below 1/2.

With the web browser being as solid as it is I don't have too many installed. There's plenty out there though, but not as many as for iPhone at this point.

Weatherbug Elite (crashes occasionally but is really well done), Advanced Task Killer, and Google Voice for voicemail (which integrates nicely) are all I have for apps.

Most websites that have an app for iPhone have one for Android as well these days.

nice, yeah when fishing or thinking about fishing (always) the weather apps are a huge plus. I'm so envious of the iphone weather maps and that app looks to be even better.
