what Numbskull said

put it in salt water , squeeze the bejeezus out of it.
leave space between the bedding and the bottom and the top of the container, I actually use a worming container so it can breathe,
leave it in the fridge. I used to use a small fridge, should be like 38 F.
I used to turn it over every day.

If the beer is chilled you are good.

Condensation is your enemy, it will kill the worms as will melted ice water.

I always kept mine on a piece of burlap wetted with sea water... the burlap was place on a plastic bag over the ice... After each mornings dig, I "dried' my worms on paper and then transferd them to the burlap..

Back then, keepers were 16"... we live lined worms at night and ran the tube by day, we pretty much dug what we figured we would need for each tide/day, only digging on the biggest tide in the morning...there were not alot left over when I fished double tides, but they would be lively and strong the next day if you had any left... any dead worms MUST be removed upon dicovery, or like the bad apple they can ruin the whole bunch..

Trade name is Buss Bedding. It works. It will keep a flat alive and fresh for a weekend without refrigeration. All of the old bread truck gang would use it for a weekend at Nauset, when worms were the big deal.

I used to dig worms as a kid . best I've found is just to change the sea weed every couple of days and in between flip your box over so as to be able to change the paper out. A batch in saltwater will also help' I used to be able to keep a flat of 200 worms going for a couple weeks. The best weed to use is that which is found around the base of the marsh grass. just gather a bunch and wet it in the saltwater then let the water drain out. Put paper in bottom of flat then sea weed. Drop worms spread over top of weed.Do not put in a plastic bag. Worms will suffocated an die. Also pick out the dead ones dailey as they will get eaten and kill off more worms. If your goin to try to keep them longer your buying or diggin more worms than you need. There comes a point of diminishing returns. I do good for a week. I use a cooler and 2 gallon jugs of frozen water under the box. Change the gallons out every day. Paper every day and they usually last good. Like said above get the dead ones out quick and fresh sea weed would be great too. Most refridge's are too cold. I'll be using last weeks worms on Sunday. Give me a call early Sunday morning I hope to be on water by 4.
