Shaw's had a discount gas program, so that for every $50 you spent you could save $0.05 per gallon. Any discounts you earned were good for 14 days from date of your Shaw's purchase.
It was a good program, but someone decided that it needed changing.
The NEW program starts the first discount now at $100.00
You can combine various purchases to get a higher savings per gallon.
($100, $150, $200, $250...) The discounts are valid for 30 days, which allows you to accumulate higher discount amounts.

My problem: I had been shopping at Shaw's over the past month.
I spent well over $300 DURING the month of July, and when I went to buy gas (at one of their participating gas stations) I was told that there were no discounts on my Shaw's card.
We're talking $0.20 - $0.30 per gallon saving I "should" have received but didn't.

I have sent an email to Shaw's complaining about this, but I wanted to warn/inform others that may have experienced or might experience this same issue.

If I do not receive a satisfactory response I will pull out all the stops and read them the riot act about false advertising, media outlets that would love to hear about it, and the possible ramifications of an informed public!

In my experience, this is now the third strike against Shaws when compared to Stop & Shop.
1) Their produce section is terrible. Veggies always look sickly, don't last very long and are always filthy
2) Prices are generally higher than S&S across the board
3) Poorly implemented and managed gas program

There used to be a Shaws two blocks from me before I just moved. I preferred to drive the extra 10 minutes to S&S.

Good for you to speak up about it with them. Hopefully, they'll send you off a $5-10 gift card and be done with it. Cheap for them and would make me happy.

They offered a $15 gift card.

Of course this was AFTER they coyly stat that they're sorry that I didn't understand the rules.

I replied back calmly and flatly stating that the problem was THIERS, and that I would take their gift card and donate it to an elderly person (there's an assisted-living facility right across the street from them) and then stated that I would be re-considering my shopping options from now on.

The final straw was that their website has incomplete, conflicting rules that don't explain much of anything.

Looks like Stop & Shop for me!

SHAWS S U C K S

their prices are ALWAYS higher than anyone else. S&S next highest.

You got to just buy stuff there when it's on sale otherwise your overspending every week. Wife does the shopping but we compare and Shaws is horrible!
