Alright....here is the scoop! The First Annual S-B Peddle/Paddle Kayak Fest!!! Alot of us guys have purchased kayaks recently and a few have had them awhile! There are several on here with them and I thought it would be fun to get together early one morning on the south shore and hit the water together then head back to BigFish Base Camp for a cookout!!! Just a fun day of yakking and fishing and then have some chow and a few cold ones or whatever your tastes are! The deal is it will be a pot-luck so everyone brings a dish or something!! I will have a grill here! Lets see how many have an interest?? I am thinking a Saturday end of August or first weekend in September (I will have to check the surf tides so I/We do not miss any canal tides which may be optimum?). So any thoughts??? Interest?? Lets talk about it??:gh:

never yakked on the south shore, I'm usually not allowed down there, can't you catch bonito down there at that time of year?

Just checked the tides the 28th and they are breaking in the am at the ditch...so that weekend is out! Is anyone opposed to Labor Day weekend on Saturday?? Or Sunday???

So this is where all the cool people hang out....

I'm in for this....depending on the weekend.

Labor Day weekend no good here....

Looking for some dialogue! Any sincere interest or no??
Yes. Sincere interest here Larry. Once everyone agrees on a date, I will pencil it in. We'll need to find a place that will accommodate everyone's vehicles. Maybe someplace like Hingham Harbor or Duxbury PP Bridge.
Depending on the number of vehicles, perhaps the Herring River dirt ramp in Scituate off the Driftway. You can squeeze quite a few trucks in there inside the stone wall.
Once we get a head count, we can plan some refreshments and food. I will definately pitch in for that as well.

OK.....lets try the 28th of August? Time and exact location to be determined.....let me check location tides! Does the 28th work??

BigBo
08-05-2010, 07:40 AM
:uhuh: Should be OK for me.

BigFish
08-05-2010, 07:42 AM
PP Bridge that morning is too low I think Bob?? Thoughts on low there?? Driftway looks good.....dropping to 8:42 am low.

BigFish
08-05-2010, 07:50 AM
So let me know if you are in guys and we will start a list of attendees! This will be a fun day!!:uhuh:

BigBo
08-05-2010, 07:52 AM
That would definately rule out Hingham as well. You have to trudge through knee deep mud in order to get to open water. :smash:
At least in Duxbury, you don't go through mud and you can get into the deep water channels fairly quickly. Overall I'd say the Herring River might be the best bet since you put in right in deep enough water. And us paddlers can catch the incoming tide on the way back to the ramp. Not too far a paddle/peddle to the North River, South River and the mouth if we want to go out in front of 4th Cliff.
Maybe someone can come up with a better location, but that doesn't sound too bad to me. :uhuh:

BigFish
08-05-2010, 08:10 AM
I think its a perfect tide there that morning....dropping on the way out the mouth, will give us time by 4th to fish a while and catch the incoming tide back up the river and back to my house afterwards for a cookout!!

If you are bringing food for the cookout we can refrigerate or leave it here at my house before we leave! After the trip we will return to my house to relax, cook up some food and enjoy the afternoon! Maybe we will have some fresh fish to cook up as well!:uhuh: I am looking forward to this!!

For any of you guys who live a good distance away (Or if any of you are up for it?) I would like to invite you to crash at my house Friday night? Its a pretty early start so if you like we can pitch a couple tents in the yard, bring an air mattress?? I have a nice outdoor shower to wake up with?? We can hang out the night before, have a fire in the pit!! One of you is a Boy Scout professional I think right Kevin?? Let me know if any of you have any interest? I just know it sucks to have to get up that much earlier to drive an hour or more?
