IFG 03-16-2003, 05:02 PM I met this fellow at a tackle shop one day and let me just say how impressed I was to see how good of a fishemen he is. Coded message Uncoded Dont listen to this yahoo stay far away from him at all costs The only reason he likes smack-It's is because the name sounds cool He lies alot He probably has never caught a fish in his life. Just kidding Greg:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :laughs: :laughs: :laughs: IFG 03-16-2003, 05:34 PM Buck tails of many kinds are good to have on any trip THe most useful are those with a red and white head they are used all over the world and standard issue in the US Navy's survival kits. The bigger the jig the bigger the fish. large bucktails are great when fishing the canal they are a sure fire way to bag a striper(lest thou useith plugs like true gentlemen and fishermen:laughs: ) Now get a variety of sizes and shapes but I generaly use white and redhead some guys like black I dont. Storm swimers are great Pogy and White colored but tend to be very oily so I dose'em in Bunker oil. Parachutte jigs are another poppular jig in the canal they are basicaly a bucktail head with a fiber tail that is very big and pluffy creating a great swim affect. Crippeld Herrings are probably the most popular and productive in the canal and anywhere for that matter. I'll be at the MSBA show this weekend, not all the good stuff was picked up this weekend at the Worcester show and I'm hoping to do some pouring this week; if my damn restocking order ever gets here. You and I will be fishing together soon:), figure another month should be just about right. schoolie monster 03-17-2003, 11:55 AM Whoa Manic, take it easy, I realize we're all gettin' testy with cabin fever, but I think you got some good answers there. for schoolies to keeper size... 6 1/2" smoke/clear ledgerunner jerkbaits 5 1/2" smoke/clear ledgerunner split tail pearl cocahoe shads on 3/8 to 1/2 oz. leadhead blue/white atom striper swiper chrome gag's grabber bagley's floating finger mullet (blk/silver or red/white)... lipless crankbait zara spook red/white I use Fisherwoman's teasers on the shads and poppers and simple red/white works great, though I really like her blueback herring pattern. Teasers interfere with the action of the jerkbaits and "walk the dog" style cranks and also seem to deaden the "feel" of them, so I don't use them. for larger bass at night... Eels pencil popper (black) with black teaser but that's kinda pointless since I really only use eels... if I was going to throw a plug, I would use the pencil popper (really slow). I'm just not a big plug- guy. I would listen some of the other guys who are plug crazies (see Slipknot, JHabs) and know about a million times more about pluggin' than I do. I'm going to try some of GS' 9" jerkbaits and 7" split tails at night this year to see how they do. Weightless up top...
