Have a 7.5 foot heavy spinning stick for the boat. Don't feel like putting a VS on it. Only going to be throwing plugs and such for bass and blues. Thinking of a sustain 8000, any thoughts on the reel ?

I have two that I use on my boat and at the Ditch. Very smooth and little to no problems with them. Smooth drag, solid construction. I'd have no problems recommending one.

Stradic is also a great reel and a little cheaper, but both are quality products

I looked into buying one several years back, They are a very nice reel but you cannot dunk them in saltwater the way you can a VS. As long as they stay fairly dry of salt water , you should like the reel.

IMO the diff between the Sustain and Stradic does not justify the price. Go with the Stratic. I own ten or so and love all of them.

You might want to look at the Saragosa as well.

That reel has the option of a bail-less kit in case you ever want to go that way and has proven itself to be a well built reel.

A little cheaper then a Sustain but only one spool.

Think I will go with a sustain.
I destroyed a few stradics in my past.
Thank you for the input.

Stradic FI hands down. The Sustain really doesn't have that much more to offer over the Stradic.

Spheros FB is an excellent reel for the price. Its well worth considering.
