START making a conscious decision to buy American. Stop this import Chinese BULL%$%$%$%$ now.

When I see %$%$%$%$ like this it boils me. The only AMERICAN company to do this stuff can't even buy the raw materials for this price.

EVERY single guy on here right now can make a difference.

DON'T BUY THE CHINESE OR THAILAND OR Phillipino CRAP. IF YOU DON'T BUY IT THEY WON'T KEEP SENDING IT. Pretty soon you got AMERICAN JOBS and an ECONOMY. This goes across anything you buy.

$10 a thousand for fishing lure eyes. :smash: Wonder how many people will order. Wonder how many already did. :smash:

Two important points.

Point 1) If we stop buying Chinese crap the global economy will implode.

Point 2) It's past time you revise your business model.

If we stop buying Chinese crap..

1) It will put pressure on manufacturers to innovate and create jobs for innovaters and small business owners

2) It will create good paying jobs where Value is added to materials every step of the way for workers at EVERY skill level.

3) It will raise the standard of living for AMERICANS.

Adam Smith had it right in 1776, , technology is just different today.

America is no longer a basic manufacturing-based society. Minimum wage laws, unions, child labor laws, OSHA, workers rights and Asian countries ignoring all of those items have assured that.

Wages and insurance are far too expensive here to maintain decent margins to compete effectively, then add in Unions to further increase those costs significantly further while reducing flexibility.

You think the average Chinese factory worker gets scheduled raises based on seniority as opposed to merit?

I like many others try to buy american whenever possible but it aint easy. ITs ridiculous at my work at a textile rental company... About 10 years ago 90% of all the stuff we rented was made in the US. We rent table linens and uniforms. Now nothing, NOTHING is made here. The cotton is often grown in the US bought by the chinese and shipped back over here. Pakistan makes about 75% of the polyester linens. Zero quality control. Child labor, no OSHA, unions, insurance, makes it damn near impossible to make the stuff over here now. Not trying to highjack the thread but if we had government paid health care i would think that more jobs could be created and more goods made here. I know there is a lot that goes into it and its not that simple but anything that would help should be looked into.

Sad but very true Johnny.Well said.

Working in the construction field for almost 20yrs we've been regulated to death by OSHA,the EPA,etc.Don't forget the insanely high cost of Worker's Comp ins. too.

If I were to bid a typical Newport paint job(lead) following EPA,OSHA and the RI DOH and the countries toughest state lead laws I'd never paint a house again. No one could possibly afford to paint their house lawfully with the bid I'd give them. You'd spend more time setting up and cleaning up than performing any actual work. The amount of plastic and tape that you'd have to buy would cost more than the actual labor!

Sadly the US has regulated itself to the point that it costs so much to manufacture or build something here. You really can't blame anyone for buying something made in another country if its all they can afford.Wanna blame anyone we should pointing fingers toward Washington D.C.

It is not only manufacturing but white collar professions are being outsourced.

It is hard. Just try to buy a pair of jeans made in the US of A. I buy them, but they are expensive. Work boots are the same way.....

My wife understands even though she shakes her head sometimes. She asked me what I wanted for our Anniversary (19th). I told her 2 more pair of jeans.

They last about a year and a half before I destroy them. levi's, wranglers, carhartts and such last close, but they aren't made here.

Diamond Gusset are the only jeans I can find made here, so that is what I wear. As far as boots, it's either Whites or Red Wings.

Absolutely. Greed and exploitation. If China actually cared about their workforce or any humanitarian issues, the same laws exist over there. The only time China takes an action is after a situation creates bad PR for them.

In a lot of places, the service tended to favor the townies - while the military families (that we so overtly support now) waited like they were second-class filth. Ask my Mom - nobody on the base cried when they went under.
