View Full Version : 6:30 tomorrow am
tysdad115 09-03-2010, 03:57 PM Thinking about hitting the canal tomorrow morning. Kind of late but maybe boats wont be going through as alot of them are out of water or moved further away..fishing first light through west slack. Anyone else? Good idea or bad idea? :fishin:
JohnR 09-03-2010, 04:51 PM Why so late?
JamesJet 09-03-2010, 05:00 PM I wont be out but good luck. For me the night tides this weekend seem like the better bet. In fact I try to avoid mornings on the weekends more for the crowds than the boats. If you are worried about boats, I wouldn't. Even though its supposed to be much less of a hit than originally expected, the water will still be snarly for a few days and keep most off.
tysdad115 09-03-2010, 05:18 PM Figured I would let what storm there is blow out totally John.Plus my 9 year old will be with me. We will be there at 5. Now middle of the week will be a different story...new moon equals no sleep. 2am tuesday and so on...I was wondering if anyone had any luck there after a storm or if its a dead zone.

ProfessorM 09-03-2010, 06:18 PM fished 2 days after Hurricane Bob and got a 38" fish on chunks at pole 225, while dodging yellow jackets. Got the pogies in Barnstable inner harbor snagging, it was loaded with them for a few days after Bob. Hope my boss doesn't read this as I told him I couldn't get out of my road due to downed trees. Funny how you remember some things. Go for it, one never knows
Slipknot 09-03-2010, 06:43 PM there were fish breaking tonight around sundown
tysdad115 09-03-2010, 06:47 PM Thank's,we're going to give it a go.The boy is hounding me already.

Mike P 09-03-2010, 09:17 PM Go, but stay on the mainland side. The winds will be either still from the NE, or from the NW, and strong. Like 30 kts. plus strong. It's blowing 20 SE now and the storm center is still south of LI. NWS still indicates an 80-90% chance of TS force winds in the Canal region overnight.
You won't have any boat traffic. Cape Cod Bay will still be churned up.
There may be weed--no one will really know until they go. And Scussett is gated and will likely remain gated until well after 6:30 tomorrow morning. East of the Sag or the west end would be your best bet in NE winds--outside of the two bridges. Mid-canal, NE is a cross wind. If it's NW you'd be good anywhere on the mainland side.
SurfCaster413 09-03-2010, 09:29 PM I would go can't catch fish, if you not fishing
tysdad115 09-04-2010, 08:30 AM Skunked, nada nothing! But at least we tried.

JohnnySaxatilis 09-04-2010, 09:52 AM Ya dude i was all over the east end last night as well and got totally blanked. I thought it was guna blow up with the hurricane coming in. two storms sandwiching the east coast and the first low pressure system after the heat wave, i thought, no brainer right? wrong....
How bout scusset beach CLOSED last night too, becuase of the "State of Emengecy" massachusetts was in becuase of earl.... what the muff? I threw the entire freakin bag last night and covered about 10 miles of canal collectively.
The only saving grace was laughing my balls off when i saw the dude with the black leather cowboy hat absolutely blasting the johnny cash and dancing on the bike, the same way every time im down there. lol that dude is needs to give me whatever drugs he's on, cuz he looks to be having a great time...
Anyone do any damage last night/this morning?
JamesJet 09-04-2010, 11:09 AM Andy,
Good job giving it a shot. I'll bet it was a good time with your son anyways. I can't wait until my little guys can go with me.
How was the weed situation? Hopefully I'll see you down there one day next week but there is an outside chance I can get down tonight or tomorrow since I never made it on Thursday.
tysdad115 09-04-2010, 11:25 AM Weeds werent bad at all.Not many people and no boats...no fish either but we still enjoyed it. I will be there early all week, give me a shout if your heading down, you know where I will be.

SAUERKRAUT 09-04-2010, 01:14 PM I canvassed about 230 pole numbers x 2 this AM. A number of other Cape side anglers also fishing or at the ready like me. Water conditions seemed to look good for after a mini storm like this, but I saw nothing. Tons of AM exercise though and better than sleeping in.
