View Full Version : police divers at Buckmaster Pond in Westwood
FishermanTim 09-15-2010, 12:18 PM No details are available as of yet, but it doesn't bode well for that pond.
I have fished there for years, more recently by kayak, and it's always been a family-friendly area.
The only thing I have seen there that raised MY eyebrows was a sunken joh-boat in the area they seen to be searching.
If they are responding to any calls about a sunken boat, it will be a wild goose chase, as that boat has been there for quite some time.
If they are there for some other reason, I hope it isn't a "recovery" mission. I'd hate to think that another person has been murdered around that pond. (There was an elderly fisherman who was attacked and killed there some years back. I would hate to have to keep looking over my shoulder while fishing there.)
I will try and get an update when it is available.
JohnR 09-15-2010, 01:17 PM Ouch - went there a few times as a kid...
BigFish 09-15-2010, 03:22 PM Might the Westwood FD dive team simply be training?? I came out of a Plymouth pond with my yak not too long ago and the Plymouth FD was getting ready for some training......had 2 engines there, the brush truck and a tin rescue boat with about 10 guys??? All they were doing was training but it looked like a murder scene!
FishermanTim 09-15-2010, 05:27 PM So far the only details are that they are diving along with a team from Miami. There were also hints that it is related to an extortion case.
Swimmer 09-15-2010, 05:53 PM Its the FBI and no locals are involved I dont believe. They have said nothing to anyone and the area is cordoned off. Mob hit.
Maybe there looking for the stolen art work from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Art Museum:devil2:
The Dad Fisherman 09-16-2010, 05:05 AM They found Jimmy Hoffa
FishermanTim 09-16-2010, 10:04 AM It's funny because I fished that pond regularly from a kayak, and passed that particular area while tossing worms. Never snagged anything, nor did I see anything in the water.
I'd hate to think that it's a body, since they use that pond to suppliment the towns water supply! :yak5:

Yeah, that and all the other assorted trash that gets tossed in there by the reckless refuse that visit that "picture perfect" pond (as per the local tv news last night).
When you see the amount of trash outweigh the amount of goose crap, it doesn't make me think "picture perfect" any more than (the old) Revere or Wollaston Beaches used to.
(Disclaimer: these beaches appear to be much cleaner than they were in the 80's & 90's)
BigFish 09-16-2010, 04:25 PM News reports they are searching for a gun used in a murder case that was supposedly disposed of there.
sailaway 09-27-2010, 07:20 PM Hi guys, I am new to this forum. Was checking the local news about the Pond search. I was curious when I saw the news and saw the team searching the pond. Seems to be about more than a gun. Couldnt find out more info re: this search. I am thinking that there is some kind of recovery here, like someone mentioned, could be a Mob hit - no, I dont think it is Jimmy Hoffa ;) Something closer in time, maybe.
I had heard different things from my neck of the woods, wanted to see what you guys may have heard. Thanks for reading my post, i know the weather will be crappy for a couple of days, better days are coming
Take care and have a great week.
