View Full Version : It's Started...? fishweewee 03-19-2003, 09:43 PM Anti-aircraft guns going off over Baghdad. If so...go get-im boys...and God Speed. fishweewee 03-19-2003, 09:46 PM Yup, it's started. President Bush to address the nation at 10:15 p.m. EST. JohnR 03-20-2003, 07:20 AM God Speed is right. Saltheart 03-20-2003, 09:00 AM I hope its over quickly so we can get people back home soon. bloocrab 03-20-2003, 12:42 PM ...God Bless America - and the people who protect it. .....just a friendly reminder- What your seeing on T.V.......is NOT a movie!!! :af: As exciting as it is to see missles being fired...the explosions...night-vision-footage....strategic war planning...etc.-etc.-etc-....we must keep in mind that we have troops there....LIVING THRU THIS!! As much as we want this resolved, as much as we want Saddam's head in a chum-pot...we must remember to keep our thoughts in the right place.....not praying for mass destruction but for mass resolution with as few casualties as possible. I've been noticing peoples' expressions while watching the news, it almost seems some are happy about whats going on. There is nothing happy about whats going on. Americans may die defending the world, defending us.... Pray for Peace- ...a peace of Saddam's head :behead: fishweewee 03-20-2003, 12:49 PM "Saddam's head in a chum pot..." Sorry, that sounds :laughs: to me, if not a little :yak: Fish_n_Dive 03-20-2003, 05:46 PM "Saddam's head in a chum pot..." nothing would eat such a vile thing:laughs: :laughs: :laughs: Scotch Bonnet 03-20-2003, 05:48 PM Bloo, I agree. I can't even watch the news coverage. What a circus. I was pissed they were calling it "The Big Show" last night on MSNBC. Then they break into a freakin commercial! The media has to come back to reality. IFG 03-20-2003, 07:49 PM Time for our boys to fight for our freedom GO GET SOME BOys Semper FI fishweewee 03-20-2003, 09:01 PM Have to agree, some of the media types are acting like jackasses. It's painful to watch. Enough of this "shock and awe" crap - I hate buzzwords. Mike P 03-20-2003, 10:35 PM What those chuckleheads don't realize is they got one-upped by the military. The newsies expected Baghdad to get the hell blown out of it in the first hours of the war---they have those stupid fixed cameras that are basically showing trucks driving by day, and streetlights at night, with the occasional flash of a bomb. They don't get that "shock and awe" :yak: is already underway where their cameras can't show it, in the south around Basra and Mosul. The effin' nerve of the Pentagon in staging a war to win and not for the convenience of television :D Plug 03-20-2003, 11:17 PM Originally posted by Scotch Bonnet Bloo, I agree. Today, some female talking head on the radio upon being frustrated because the U.S. had not begun "shock and awe" blurted in an exasperated voice, "Who's writing the screenplay for this thing?" God have mercy on those who would trade life, for in the words of Ed Sullivan, "a really big sssshewuh." mikecc 03-21-2003, 07:38 AM . Duke41 03-21-2003, 07:48 AM Senior said "I'll be back" Mike P 03-21-2003, 08:28 AM Sundown in Iraq is about noon our time. I'm predicting the "really big scheeeuw" starts around 2 PM. A few Big Ugly Fat F*****s left an RAF base fully loaded with ordnance about 7:30 our time. I don't think it was a training exercise ;) Yesterday there was all this talk of so-called "back door negotiations" between the Allied commanders and the leaders of certain units of the Republican Guards. What I think happened was, the Iraqis were given 24 hours to crap or get off the pot, and from what I'm hearing only 20% of those units took us up on the offer. Maybe they asked for unrealstic terms, not realizing they were holding garbage or a pair of deuces against a guy holding a royal flush. JohnR 03-21-2003, 08:35 AM Today, some female talking head on the radio upon being frustrated because the U.S. had not begun "shock and awe" blurted in an exasperated voice, "Who's writing the screenplay for this thing?" - Good, let them beach & moan about it. Stinking press! I know people likely on one of those BUFFs. That is a very nice piece of pressure to launch a raid from England where every news source in the world will report that "a flight of B52s" has been seen taking off from..... If you wanted to hide them as a suprise you launch from D.G., if you want the Iraqis to know, you launch from Jolly 'Ole England. Go in, get it done, & come home... (less 10 years of peace keeping forces) Fishpart 03-21-2003, 09:44 AM Shock and Awe are part of the Mind Game. If our goal is to free the Iraqi people we must minimize the damage to non-military targets. Of course they don't want to speak out against their leader because the penalty is DEATH. Jimbo 03-21-2003, 10:20 AM I thought I was the only one who noticed this behavior on the part of the press. How embarrassing must it be for a reporter to look back at himself bellyaching because the press isn't getting as much information from the military as they feel they were "promised". Saw one guy last night complaining because a special room had been set up for press briefings and so far it has been used very little. Boo-hoo, buddy. So what do they do instead? Declare every former military they can get their hands on a subject matter expert and take what little info they have and try to rip it apart like it was an NFL post game analysis, so they can come up with a miniscule shred of speculation about what the next move might be. Fortunately, retired generals don't seem to speculate, they seem to base their comments entirely on fact and experience and don't appear to be willing to say anything that might "tip a hand". I like that in a retired general. Jimbo 03-21-2003, 01:03 PM Check out CNN now, Shock and Awe has certainly begun. Amazing. Don't know what we're dropping but it's making a hell of a noise. STEVE IN MASS 03-21-2003, 02:35 PM Looks like they finally got their "screenplay"....I just hope they don't all ejaculate at once.... Jimbo 03-21-2003, 02:46 PM Ahhhhhhhhh my coworkers are wondering why I burst out laughing. Great line! I'm still cracking up. STEVE IN MASS 03-21-2003, 03:07 PM My pleasue, Jim.....:D.....about now, I think we all need a bit of lighting up....if only momentarily....I was pretty bummed yesterday... BTW, that was only commentary on the behavoir of the press, not necessarily on the events of the day......... Mike P 03-21-2003, 03:17 PM Whatever your politics, you have to take your hat off to Rumsfeld. I just watched his latest Pentagon press briefing. The guy is a master of saying "You're an idiot" in a smooth, three word answer (using three different words of course ;) ) to a stupid question. Gloucester2 03-21-2003, 03:47 PM MikeP I was thinking the same thing when someone asked him "Were the Drones used, were they effective, will they continue to be used ?" dramatic pause Rumsfeld "Yes, yes and yes" . . . I'd hate to play poker with that guy ! Mike P 03-21-2003, 07:35 PM Originally posted by Gloucester2 I'd hate to play poker with that guy ! Yeah---I made the same comment to the guy I was watching the conference with. Mike P 03-21-2003, 07:38 PM Originally posted by Mike P I'm predicting the "really big scheeeuw" starts around 2 PM.
