when would be the right time to target them. when the mackeral come back? anyone know if fishing for them is better in the spring or fall?

I've caught them in Dec. I don't know about earlier, friggin eatin cod on the way up

North of glouster all year out here you might get 1 all summer / fall never sharked after November so that's probably a starting point

Niko,

You can really do it all year long. June and July are good. Cold water, think codfishing east of the bank.

No one really goes fising for porbeagles on purpose. They go codfishing and put one or 2 rods with baits near the bottom.

They have been crushing small ones up in Ipswich Bay for the last month or so.

i've had a bunch of little ones chase cod up to the boat but it's time for a bigger one. how do they fight? better than the avg bluedog? though a few of the bluedogs lately have thought they were tuna, allbeit on spinning. 50's the way to go or a little lighter
