Lots of snow drifts
this long term trend that was in place all summer is looking to extend at least for the next 90 days.
I'm thinking White Christmas

talk about drifts.....
one year (in the sixties)
the snow got so deep covering all the windows and doors that
the house was so insulated it was absolutely quiet with very little
whistling winds heard and "we " all (whole family) over slept.
My father looked out the window at how deep the snow was
at least 3 feet or more and he said..."i'm glad i have six sons".
We all went down to see the snow but could not see out of any window because even the screens were coated....
except for maybe one so we went to open the huge front door which was rather stuck, We yanked on it hard before it finally opened due to the vacuum and instead of seeing out to the Street all we saw was a wall of white snow from the floor to the ceiling.
At the time Snow blowers had not yet been invented or at least
we didnt have one. Instead we had a human powered plow that was quite long with an extra wide snow blade on the front on an ANGLE.
it had two small wheels on the back and thats how i plowed the driveway for years.
now to the big drift.
the snow was on the backside of the house up to the second story window sill and we all thought....wow look at that toboggan slide will yah? thinking we could just jump out the window and slide down the hill....i was the first gullible one (and the last) to try it.
out i jumped without my parents knowing what us kids were up to.
the next thing i know i am in a tube of white snow 20 feet deep absolutely choking on it gasping for air and literally blind with snow in my eyes as well my nose was packed with snow too.
i would have died if not for my brothers frantically digging me out
as fast as they could for convincing me it was a safe thing to do.
at the end of the day there was a tunnel through the snow from the street up to the front door that a full grown man could walk thru with several installed windows (lol) so that the hood milk man and the mailman could make it to the front door.
