View Full Version : GIBBS THREAD
Another thread for Fans but this tIme Fans of Gibbs
I want to know your Favorite Gibbs and why
Favorite: Polaris Popper/Pogie Nothing Beats it in the canal
I have at least one of everything they make because they are quality productive lures.
How about you
Surfpirate 03-23-2003, 09:24 PM My go to Gibbs Plugs are the Pencil Popper and the Polaris Popper
My all time favorite was the old Casting Swimmer (or Bottle Plug) but my recent purchases have not had the same action as the vintage plugs.
That or old-timers has kicked in early.
Is it me?
I do like the New Colors
TheSpecialist 03-23-2003, 09:59 PM Mackeral colored Pencil, and Polaris.
Slipknot 03-23-2003, 10:10 PM Black needlefish
Karl F 03-23-2003, 10:17 PM but I like the schoolbus swimmers I have too :D
bassmaster 03-23-2003, 10:35 PM black needle and a green and white needle yellow polaris and the medium floating Mack pencle and polaris
jeffsod 03-23-2003, 10:36 PM White polaris
Works for me
Goose 03-23-2003, 11:58 PM yellow polaris:btu:
JohnR 03-24-2003, 08:49 AM Favorite Gibbs: Black or Wht/Blk Stubby needle fish chasing a teaser....
Favorite Plug: Beachmaster or Custom Danny style swimmers - I just drool on the wobblage
Big Vern 03-24-2003, 09:09 AM I just picked up a couple of them Beachmaster dannys at the MSBA show, and I can't wait to swim them. They're just sweet.
As far as Gibbs...I'll go with a black needlefish or a yellow darter.
JohnR 03-24-2003, 09:38 AM I just wish they hadn't jacked up the price on those Beachmasters even futher - $20 dressed with hooks.... Up a couple from last year... But it's a G R E A T swimming plug
Big Vern 03-24-2003, 09:51 AM I know...I kind of blew my "allowance" on them, but I did save a couple bucks with the boxes of hooks and split rings I've already got. It still was a hard trigger to pull, but the black/yellow/silver and the white with pink just needed to be in my surf bag. Needless to say I don't think they'll be cooming out for blind casting. They will be joining some Hab's Needles in the "Reserved for times when you know the large are in" section of the surf bag.
JohnR 03-24-2003, 10:03 AM I got quite a few fish on that white/pink last year - up to 28 pounds :D
Mike P 03-24-2003, 10:06 AM If it makes you feel any better, white/pink Cowboys go between $22 and $25 a pop on LI.

BasicPatrick 03-24-2003, 03:23 PM The Pencils are my favorite and though I love the MAcs I have to say my most productive is the White with red head

 And I thought the Yo-zuri's were too expensive at $10-12.....if they cost twice as much do they catch fish 2 at a time? :laughs:
I like the bottle plugs.White with the blue eye from 5/8 -3oz. I've caught good fish on all of the sizes.Darters, pencils, needles, dannys hard to decide.Got some three oz.pencils in bl an pink mac at the show don't see them around my parts.
Well John You would be happy to know [this is for the rest of you wobblers out there] I was shown by a Gibbs field tester a New Danny thier going to put out It has a modified lip and balance and might be jointed;)
Slipknot 03-24-2003, 11:25 PM NIB, those pink macs are highly sought after by the canal guys. When you come back up, don't leave home without it.
Mike P 03-24-2003, 11:26 PM Gibbs field tester? Was this at the show?
I saw some pink mackerel pencil poppers at the CMS booth---wonder where they got that idea from  :D
