Mrs. Rappin Mikey is going in for heart surgery at MGH on Wednesday morning. She is definitely getting a new Aortic valve, but there is a possibility it might be more. They won't be sure till they are into the procedure. I know it's pretty run of the mill stuff these days but both of us are starting to freak out a bit now that it is less then 2 days away. Anyway, T&P's will be appreciated. Thanks

Good Luck to the misses. My dad had two of these done, the first one lasted 16years (21yrs ago) 8-10 more than expected. When that failed he didn't want to got though it again as he said the pain was unbearable for weeks. The doctor explained the new classes of drugs (ie. Ibuprophen and other anti-inflamitories would make the rehab a breeze. The doctor was right and my dad sailed right through with NO Pain at all. Hope this puts you at ease a little. Again good luck and MGH is the best in the world for this.

Mikey, I went through open heart surgery 4 years ago. The surgery went well. I fished 6 weeks after surgery. Caught some small stripers. It felt wonderful to fish so early after surgery. I felt alot better a couple of months after surgery. Did not realize I could feel that much better. She will be fine. Going to a great hospital. The most important advice I can give you is to stay POSITIVE and have a GOOD ATTITUDE. If you need to know anything about surgery or post surgery contact me and I would be happy to talk to you or your wife. My prayers are with you both. Stay positive!

Well I don't pray,but you'll both be in my thoughts,Mikey.
My mom had it done about 9 yrs ago.The new (pig)valve was supposed to last for 15 yrs,it only went 6,but as someone posted earlier,she swore she would NOT go through that recovery again.Well,she did,and with the new developments,it was a relative breeze.The fact that she's married to you,means she's gotta be tough.I'm sure she'll be ok.:)
