View Full Version : Malware warning???
ivanputski 10-19-2010, 02:12 PM Anyone else getting a red-screen warning about your computer melting down prior to entering this site?
(* Hey JohnR... I realized I shouldve PM'ed you rather than start a thread, but can't delete my post... go ahead and delete it and PM if you have a sec.)

I just started another thread about this. JR or the malware will fix it I hope!
PRBuzz 10-19-2010, 02:59 PM Maybe we need to ban BigFish....again? :rotf2:
Slipknot 10-19-2010, 04:06 PM what's malware?
are they spamming it?
is it like tupperware?
JohnR 10-19-2010, 05:53 PM I'll look into it but it wouldn't be coming from here. Maybe from the google ads (happened once before).
I need more info - screen shot or something.
What usually happens is your browser is infected and launches something, just happens that you are going here.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND, download, install, update, and run MalwareBytes - Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/)
It is free for HOME use.
massgc 10-19-2010, 06:00 PM Just got the message
JohnR 10-19-2010, 06:15 PM I'm running scans on the server right now (been since I first saw the thread), just in case. PLEASE tell me what ads you see on the site when it comes up. Thanks!
John
massgc 10-19-2010, 06:18 PM No ads, just a red screen screen warning of possible malware
Raven 10-19-2010, 06:23 PM i already posted the advertisement saying warning Malware on the lawnmower thread
it pops up on the wifes computer too...
and like you say it may be related to GOOGLE CHROME
because it doesn't happen on regular google i've just discovered
striperman36 10-19-2010, 06:23 PM The viagra emails don't have anything to do with this?
I just got the warning. It's seems to be orginating from SOL!!
PRBuzz 10-19-2010, 06:28 PM Here's the screen shot:
JohnR 10-19-2010, 06:44 PM Whoaaaaa!!!! That's interesting.
BigFishTackle (not to be confused with BigFish Larry) has malware on THEIR site and your BROWSER is posting a warning.
OK, I know what to do I think...
Thanks for the heads up. It is not S-B
JohnR 10-19-2010, 07:11 PM OK, nothing on the scan yet (9.5 off 11GB of data) but I think the problem was the links on the bottom of the page to BigFishTackle - that is now gone.
PRBuzz 10-19-2010, 07:11 PM Aren't all BigFish the same? Once you seen one....you seen them all? :rotf2:
Thanks JR, a moderator's job is never done.
striperman36 10-19-2010, 07:12 PM It's Bush's fault

JohnR 10-21-2010, 10:49 AM Correct - warning was from google safe sites
Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device
ivanputski 10-26-2010, 09:52 PM Success!!! my very first trojan-virus!!! I am on a different computer because my laptop can not access the internet to even download anti-malware... Not exactly saying it was linked to this site, but seeing as I got that red warning screen, proceeded anyway, and the next day I used my computer it was in-operable is quite the coincidence... Thanks bigfishtackle!! you motherf*

I have very rarely seen one that wrecks internet altogether but some prevent you from downloading from certain sites.
Again - it was not from this site but it may have been another site that's link was removed from here. I'm glad I chose NOT to use them for their Ad service.
I have a quick writeup here: http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripertalk/computers/51512-quick-dirty-how-clean-speed-up-your-computer.html on how / what to run. Problem would likely not happen on a properly patched computer.
Is your Anti-Virus up to date?
Burn to CD / Flash drive: Malwarebytes, Prevx - install and scan. You may need to install MWAB in Safe Mode. You may want to boot to last known good configuration.
