A little theft to spoil things...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Just wanted to ask you all to keep your eyes open for some gear that was lifted from the bed of my truck last week. Weekapaug -middle of the night. Johnny was fishing right near my truck yet someone slipped in and snatched a rod and reel of his and about 6 plano boxes full of my plugs. Rod was a mojo surf and the reel was a rather unusual Daiwa Bullseye which is only available direct from Japan. The plugs were a miscellaneous bunch of custom stuff - my own, guppy pencils, ratty wood, bernzy, jigman, eastendlu etc etc etc.

Yes - I know better than to leave things in the bed of the truck but as I said - Johnny was fishing right there and saw the idiots pull into the lot. Unfortunately they bugged out before he could get to them.

Anyway - just thought I'd mention it here in the event that you guys see some rather unusual gear/plugs come up for sale or some such thing.

Life goes on - just stuff - but it sure is a shame that you can't even turn your back anymore.

This is why you don't leave gear sitting in your truck or on the roof.

Happens every year, if you leave anything in plain sight someone will lift it.

I bring only what I need and leave the rest at home, had someone break into my truck last year and take a bunch of plugs and a schoolie set up.

Keep an eye out at the raynham flea market that's where my gear ended up.

Getting ripped off is one of the worst feelings you can have in fishing and boating. I never got ripped off fishing but did get ripped off twice while boating.

Weekapaug is well known for numerous late season rip offs. Several incidents reported every year.As people work their way towards the west in the late season , there are fewer and fewer fisherman around and more and more spots with nothing but a parked vehicle and a car full of thieves stopping by.

Andrea is not so well known for rip offs but it has a lot of traffic of non fishing people so the oppurtunities are there.

I also have a ski rack for driving around but when I leave the vehicle everything gets locked inside. Late seasom I try to bring only what I think I will need. No extra stuff to leave in the vehicle if possible. yes the surf bag gets heavy but you hang onto your gear one more season.

What a shame to break the rods to get at the reels.
