After hanging up the surf rods a few weeks ago. It was time to reminisce on yet another season of striped bass. One that in my mind, I will label the year of the 30 pounder. No mater where I fished from or where I went it seemed like fish from the mid 20s to the mid 30lb range were sum what common. This was definitely a year that I will not forget and was very productive in teaching me many more vital things that will only increase my knowledge come next season. So here are a few pictures of a season gone by. Not many fish pictures but a sample of every thing else that goes with it.....................All the pictures are from my back yard play ground, as this is where I spent most of my time............Im such a spot burner........Ahahahaha..Enjoy....Theres a lot

These are from the great Gannet blitz that went 3 days and lasted even longer in other places. I still don't know why these usually smart birds came into shore and attacked every thing. I even caught one on a butterfly jig at the bottom of the ditch. A few of us took our hooks off our plugs and had a little fun.

Last one...............It was really all about the tinkers this year...and boy was there a lot of them. Thanks guys hope this helps to look at as the long winter sets in. Season isn't over yet tho...So those who can...go get um.

Larry- most of the times they would just yell at them and do nothing. I got into an argument with a guy who parked his boat 30 fee in front of me one day. he told me he wasn't moving cause they had fish on there lines. Some days I watched as boats would fish for hours un harmed by the patrol boats.

Thanks...........it was a canon SX20is...its a little bulky, but not bad when you have a bike. The zoom is incredible and you can zoom in on someones plug bag from across the canal....hahaha...........i dropped it in the surf one night. need to replace it.

Thanks guys, glad you're enjoying them...............John, this happened the first week of june. It went 3 days at the East end and they ate everything. You just couldn't get away from them. No matter what you threw, if it had a hook you was gonna hook one. I watched as people would hook 5 to 6 birds before giving up. At first we thought it was just the young birds, but the adults were doing the same. It was frustrating since there were fish. I have some great video of Tony O, Me, and a couple others who took the hooks off our pencils. When I get around to editing it i'll post it. A few days later I fished P-town with Patrick Sebile and we had the same thing happen there. I also herd the same of Boston and Chatham. To me it was the beginning of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds"..................or "The Greatest gannet blitz ever" lol

Nice pictures! That one of combat fishing at canal (I assume) gets me. All that shoreline and everyone is in each others pockets.

Happens everywhere though.

This was a tough year for crowds and will probably only get worst. I don't mind fishing next to someone especially if they know what there doing, but sometimes it got ridiculous. If some people only had a little curtesy it wouldn't be so bad
