Good looking stuff:) I can see a little wood grain in the pink/white one, but that's actually a little bonus, because I never saw a sooper smooth fish, only some smoothe eels. I like them. I personally enjoy seeing a little wood grain through sometimes. Your doing some nice plugs there.:claps:

Yes Slip Red Western, the man knows his wood. Speaking of which do guys like heavies or lighter wood on smaller plugs? Or is it just a matter of what you want the plug to do? The pink surfster dont have much more grain than the others, it's the paint. I use a Rustoleum matte silver for certain jobs cuz it covers other colors without primer (that surfster is silver with red scale lines). Anyway that color shows every little wave or imperfection in the plug especial after being Envirotexed. Speaking of Envirotex, I'm still getting orange peel on some of my plugs with no clear pattern?

Right now I only use rattle cans, I got a friend with an extra 6hp 20 gallon air compresser which I might take to use for air tools, will this work for an air brush? Probably need a regulator, how much for that?

Hey ferret, They have little cheap regulators at Job lot for a few bucks. But they don't give very fine adjustments. But a regulator would definately make life easier on you.

How do you get the scale effect? I see netting being sold but do not see how it can be attached then painted then released? What am I missing?

For a scale effect, paint the plug with the undercolor and let dry. Take your scale mesh and stretch around the plug. You can hold the mesh in place with binder clips, clothes pins, or something similar. Hit the plug with the top color. When doing the scales, a light shot with the paint is best. Too much and it cloggs up the mesh and smudges. Remove the mesh and paint a line down the back of the plug to fade in. Takes a little practice, but once you get it, it can be fun.
