Well it's time again to plan for another plugfest, where does the time go?
I have decided that I will take it upon myself to set the date for this event this time. So change your schedules accordingly since we are giving plenty of notice here. All you plug builders out there will have plenty of time to get things done.

Plugfest 2011 will be on Sat. Feb. 19th!
at the same place as last year
Fraternal Order of Eagles Hall 39 Cohassett Ave Buzzards Bay, Mass.

I still need to put down the deposit for the hall, but it has been penciled in for that date.

Same weekend as last years, so hopefully it won't interfere with any other big fishing events.

One thing that will be different this year, ALL entries to the plug contest will need to be mailed to me before the plugfest. We can't handle the huge amount of organizing it takes to sort thru all the entries and number them on that day, I will need to do that ahead of time. Sorry for any inconvenience , but that is how it needs to be. We try to keep it simple. I will have a thread later on about the contest with all details. So get your entries done ahead of time enough to get them to me. Thanks and good luck.

there will be a thread about it later on but look at last years threads for an idea of what it's about.

we have a classic category and usually that will be judged by a panel of qualified judges.
then there is a rookie category, best of show,and a couple others and all who attend get to vote on those.

I think it's a great idea so all the responsiblity won't be on just a few helpers to get food ready and not everyone will have to bring food, just show up. We can still warm up dishes and bring desserts and drinks.

Very good. A coupla guys spent PlugFest warming and cooking chow and missed a lot last year.

We have done a get together every year since 2001.
do a search of plugfest on this forum, look at all the old threads about it and you'll have a book worth to print out.

I would like to attend this year and bring some plugs. I will be solo, My wife would rather have her eye lids tattooed than hang out with more people like me all day long.

the site here does not condone black market, back door deals selling plugs. It is an event for trading plugs and methods and a place to learn buy supplies etc.

I have a plugfest request, can we have someone show how to make a darter in detail? I've read about the contraptions that are made to get the right angles needed for the darter to swim right. Could we also see the jigs that are builders have made?

Bummer, the 19th is a show in New Jersey called Surf Day. Was going to try to attend this year. Maybe next year.

What time does plugfest start and end? It's my first time, I have the date as 2/19 at the Faternal Order of Eagle Hall. Do I have to have plugs or can I attend with out plugs (but would like to leave with something)

Thanks Big Fish, but I had to look up the term Sensory Overload and I still do not know if the event is an evening event or all day fun ! For other less read as I am the term Sensory Overload means, a condition where one or more of the senses are strained and it becomes difficult to focus on the task at hand, sounds like when I use to drink. I never look for somthin for nothin, too much work into building wooden plugs to expect a deal pulled from the trunk of a car, I'm certain to learn something, I do own a Shopsmith lathe, who knows I may give it a try someday.

Told my dad about it today. I plan on bringing him to see the quality of everybody's work (and show off his). I know he is looking forward to seeing BigFish again.

Hope you have a category for 90 year old plug builders. He is currently working on some flaptails (thanks for the great schematics on the flaptail thread). His Darters are killer as are his needles and stubby needles (see him and one of his plugs with one of my bass on the "own wood" thread).

Going to sign him up on Striped-Bass.com next time I visit him so he can follow the thread as well.

Looking forward to our first Plugfest!

Maybe I will. I just like hanging around with a bunch of plugged out manieacs... one of the only rooms I feel totally at ease in! No worries... I can wait another year :crying:

i'll second that! sounds great slip! haven't had much time to do anything. been out of the loop, so to speak, as 2010 was a rough year. looking forward to making some firewood and i'll help out as well.

I just spoke with the guy from the hall and we are all set for next weekend, they will have breakfast sandwiches and coffee for the morning, then switch over to burgers and dogs at lunch.
He will bring extra rectangular tables for the perimeter and the round for the middle.
