View Full Version : Wallpapering
UserRemoved1 11-19-2010, 06:16 PM There's 3 things I really hate in renovations.
Plumbing
Wallpapering
Painting
In that order. I'm wallpapering the dining room tomorrow.
Oh yippee.

Raven 11-20-2010, 07:12 AM imitation vinyl wallpaper that is pre glued is
the only way to wallpaper imho
and then ya still use glue
the problems end "when" you can drag it into
the perfect position without it tearing
UserRemoved1 11-20-2010, 06:11 PM Almost 3 double rolls. Stripped and replaced in one day. Came out pisser so far except where I tore it and had to replace the whole darn piece :smash:
Raven 11-20-2010, 06:57 PM yeah thats what i was sayin earlier
that there's vinyl wallpaper that "looks" like paper
that won't rip and you can drag it around more
to get that perfect alignment
just because its easier
with the advantage of it being scrub-able.
Karl F 11-20-2010, 08:37 PM I hope you sized the walls first.....
you took a day off from the shop? WOW....
striperman36 11-20-2010, 10:12 PM he was bored
UserRemoved1 11-21-2010, 05:12 AM I rubbed my bare noggin all over the walls first does that work?

Backbeach Jake 11-21-2010, 06:47 AM The last time that I wallpapered was the last time. It came out looking like a ball of paper with a foot print in it...
I hate that stuff..
UserRemoved1 11-21-2010, 06:56 AM I'm feeling it today. Even with knee pads on frig me. I took a slice out of the inside side of my thumb with the damn putty knife scraping the glue off the wall. Course every time I picked the brush up all day the damn bristles stuck right into it and made it bleed :smash:
Wife likes it so much she wants me to get 3 more rolls and do the whole kitchen. :wall:
spence 11-21-2010, 07:15 AM Don't forget to repaint all the trim, and this is a good time to fix that leaky pipe now that things are messed up anyway.

Karl F 11-21-2010, 08:33 AM I rubbed my bare noggin all over the walls first does that work?
no, won't do it, all that will do is bleed the natural oils outta yer skin, and the paper will now curl & peel faster :uhuh:
how many men does it take to wallpaper (or paint) a house?
about a brazilian......:devil2:
UserRemoved1 11-21-2010, 08:48 AM yea i'm tossing more trim. It's 19 years old and pretty beat up. Somebody couldnt paint once too and made a slobber mess. I got to go get more trim tomorrow and start staining
karl that's not nice they do a good service to this country. They send all their money home.
maddog2020 11-21-2010, 09:24 AM Those sausage fingers aren't too good for working wall paper, Scott, LOL.
Gotta use glue over the pre-glued section. Some basic tools that you need. Biggest thing you need is patience IMHO.
If you want some help or need some tips - just holler. I was in your town yesterday. :)
I hate doing GROUT - scraping it out and doing it over every few years just STINKS.
UserRemoved1 11-21-2010, 10:58 AM shoot you should have stopped by I'da put you to work LOL
