View Full Version : Dust Collection System
dannyplug1 12-02-2010, 12:56 AM I finally got serious and set up my plug making stuff in my garage. Every time I use the late (jet mini with extended bed) Wood shavings go every where and then I have to vac the garage or track the wood shavings into the house. What do you guys reccomend for a dust collection system. Thanks Charlie

A wife works best, but they are expensive and make a lot of noise.
UserRemoved1 12-02-2010, 07:02 AM No kidding George!
Dannyplug there runs a gamut of dust collection stuff out there from table top collectors, to small 1hp single port collectors, to larger 2 port collectors with higher cfm, or up into a cyclone style collector. Big bigger bigger type of thing.
For a small shop you can't beat the little rollaround single port units, they work pretty decent. Problem really is getting the small stuff down in the single micron range...this is the bad stuff for you....forget about big stuff..I got a good sized system and can't pick up some big stuff here. But pretty decent for small particle stuff. Easy to sweep the floor.
The Jet air collection boxes like the afs1000 work good for cleaning the air in the shop also. About $200-250 I think nowadays.

this is one reason I like a vac....hit the switch an it's shut off.

robalomann5 12-02-2010, 08:01 PM any windows in the garage?
i set up a forced air-heating fan in a window in my basement, when i turn , the fan goes on and the small harmful stuff gets thrown into my neighbors yard ...
charlie,
how's the wonder bread and mackerel paint lines coming along???

dannyplug1 12-02-2010, 09:13 PM Robo havent painted much latley I was fishing hard up until the 17 of November. I see your plugs on ebay I am very impressed. Plug making is fascinating the more I learn the more I realize that I dont know. Thanks for your help. Charlie
seabuggy 12-03-2010, 07:59 PM My dust collector is a shop vac hooked up to a PVC pipe "nozzle". As said before, it dosen't get all of the big stuff, but all of the pesky dust from sanding. You MUST not use a wife. Too noisy, expensive, and a big consession to the mancave. What next? Cash in my beer can collection?
Muslyslayer96 12-05-2010, 02:43 AM Dannyplug,
hey guys i'm new to this site, thought I'd say hi.
Here is the system I just set up, works great, really cuts down on the dust.
numbskull 12-05-2010, 07:52 AM Hello and welcome, even if seeing that clean a shop has ruined my day. :wall:. I'll be interested to see what x-over ideas someone with experience musky fishing has to offer.
