There is always a mole or three at the NSA. How the game is played.

Hell, when I was a kid I met one, a Russian spy, from New Bedford no less, probably around 1982 (I.S.Y.N.).

But I never understood the logic of publicizing this. Why tell them your looking for them.

I don't know but if your lookin for the skunk in your backyard you don't go out to the front yard and yell out WHERES THE SKUNK do you?

My point is why publicize stuff like this it doesn't serve any purpose-go nail the guy and then make a example of him.

I wish they'd do that in the plug business too.

The government operates in ways that we will never understand. While they choose to invade every aspect of our privacy, we are expected to turn a blind eye and not question closed-door actions in the name of security. If only there was someone holding the government accountable for their actions...

Having known a lot of people that worked for the NSA (including someone that eventually became the Deputy Director, the top civilian member of the NSA) I can honestly say they are good people, that love our country, that do good things. My father worked there for 25 or so years.

Yes, they can do some bad or stupid things at the direction of our government but they are far from how Hollywood and techno thrillers paint them. They have their good eggs, and their slackers, the proud Americans and the sleezeballs. But they all took an oath, very similar to the members of the military, to protect our country, constitution, foreign & domestic, etc - and they take it very seriously. They probably have more bureaucracy than to deal with than most, and enough to make Smith Hill and the DMV insanely jealous. Being able to read other people's mail (as in other countries) has saved our butts (and other countries) more than once.

As for holding the government accountable, that is supposed to be our jobs - that whole We the People thing - but we have become the sheep and continue to elect people that tell us they'll cater to our interests.

claps::claps: Absolutely. We let those we should be holding accountable decide their own accountability, or lack thereof, and we continue to elect those that tell us what is in our own interest, usually at the expense of others. We have, as an increasing majority, transferred the responsibility of using the garantee of life and liberty to let an elected elite pursue what it describes as our happiness, and, in the process, dividing "we the people" against each other.

an important distinction moving forward will be whether or not we continue to strive for the principles laid out by our founders or whether we determine that our system of government has failed and seek an alternative...there are those that are anxiously waiting to provide an alternative recognizing that those that have been "watching" government for some time are special interests that require their representatives to guarantee equality of outoutcomes rather than equality of opportunity and the freedoms protected by our Constitution and it's Ammendments.....in guaranteeing, or promising to guarantee equality of outcomes they have opened a Pandora's Box of entitlements that give false security to those who would opt for it and providing a boon for those that will provide it...Washington has become a willing host to leaches from every corner of the planet and here in this country, just read the recent reports detailing where the stimulus and tarp money trillions actually went...unnecessary levels and numbers of bureaucrats administering the business of the state grow at exponential rates while the private sector is admonished by career, entrenched politicians (just look at the way that we recycle the rats here in RI) for it's inadequecies and any unwillingness that it may show to support and be loyal to this behemoth. It has been warned that the response by business to Government Over-Regulation will simply be that business will have to "puchase" protection and ally themselves with govt. for favorable conditions to continue to thrive...GE ????
So we now have an alliance of government and certain willing business, unions, most of the media, a vast array of special interests here and abroad seeking guaranteed outcomes, social justice, redistribution and government "for the people" as determined by certain exempted intellectuals.... alligned against the average American who would simply like to work hard, live their lives and provide for their families and enjoy the fruits of their labors in whatever way that THEY determine is best.....Good Luck

WASHINGTON (AP) — Don’t touch my brownies!

A child nutrition bill on its way to President Barack Obama — and championed by the first lady — gives the government power to limit school bake sales and other fundraisers that health advocates say sometimes replace wholesome meals in the lunchroom.

“This could be a real train wreck for school districts,” Lucy Gettman of the National School Boards Association said Friday, a day after the House cleared the bill. “The federal government should not be in the business of regulating this kind of activity at the local level.”
