View Full Version : What is your current favorite waterproof Point and shoot camera Mr. Sandman 12-06-2010, 01:38 PM removed, sorry JohnR 12-06-2010, 06:10 PM Dunno. My two (3?) year old 770SW is doing OK so I won't need one for a while but that is also no longer available. I do know I prefer the metal bodies Olympus with a deeper depth rating and a greater shock rating. Someone also mentioned Sony has one. tattoobob 12-06-2010, 07:15 PM After my Olympus SW 770 got stolen I picked up a Stylus Tough-6000 so far I like it and have had no problems, I would like a screen protector and a view finder tho BigBo 12-06-2010, 07:45 PM I have the Pentax Optio W60. About three years old? No problems at all. chefchris401 12-06-2010, 08:55 PM I have the fuji camera, excellent pics and small, light and cheap. think it was like $140 Lots of talk about the sony camera. model is dsc-tx5, some specs, Waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, freeze-proof, 3.0" wide touch screen, 4x optical zoom, "Exmor R" sensor, iSweep Panorama Mode, 10fps at full 10.2 megapixels. Not sure how good it is, but if its like all the other sony stuff ive owned, its probably a winner. Seems like the average price is $329.00 Nebe 12-06-2010, 10:38 PM iPhone 4 in a ziplick. :hihi: Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device JohnR 12-07-2010, 08:02 AM iPhone 4 in a ziplick. :hihi: Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Like to live dangerously, eh? Nebe 12-07-2010, 08:24 AM Like to live dangerously, eh? Well... I choose when I do this according to where I am fishing. Certainly not doing it under point Jude lighthouse. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device BassDawg 12-07-2010, 08:29 AM Olympus' Stylus TOUGH 6000 excellent camera, great pix, perfect for surf shots and the travails that go with the environment and conditions. the SONY sounds good, but i've had this model for 3 yrs and have abused it mercilessly,,,,,,,, and she still takes beautes like these: Mugz 12-07-2010, 08:38 AM That style Olympus will be my next camera!!! I have had an Olypmus for about 4 years now....I forget the model but it's waterproof to 10 ft, shockproof and FREEZEPROOF. I do a lot of icefishing and this camera has been great. I have used it in the pool, during sub zero temps and never a problem. Has worked well for me....and takes pretty decent pictures. It's been spilled on, dropped, left in a hot car....no issues. Swimmer 12-07-2010, 09:35 AM I am trying to get my wife to let me purchase for her Xmas present an Olympus 8020, but she isn't having any of it. BasicPatrick 12-10-2010, 11:21 AM I roll with a Pentax Optio WP 10 that is in it's fifth year. Recently starting to take a blurry pic once out of every 25 but I have beat the snot out of it for well over 4 years. I highly reccommend the Pentax Optio WP line. numbskull 12-10-2010, 02:18 PM Night-time photography with the Pentax Optio W60 is barely possible (the auto focus is not visible infra-red so you can't center your subject unless it is lit). The W60 has a very limited self-timer option (10 seconds) which makes self-photos at night very difficult. The exposure and focus also locks when you push the shutter on the timer so if you are in front of the camera with your light on so you can see it when you do so and then move back to pick up a fish the shot will be out of focus and the exposure poor. The lens has no cover and since you can't see through it in the dark when it has water on it you will end up with a ruined shot. The w60 is a tough little camera and for daytime shots of dead fish it is fine. If you want night photos of something you hope to release you might be able to do better. BasicPatrick 12-10-2010, 02:22 PM Sounds like Pentax has cheapened up the WP...bummer. Thanks for the info Numbskull. Mr. Sandman 12-10-2010, 02:30 PM I bought a waterpoof canon D10. I plan to keep it on the boat . I have a lot of canon stuff and I am very familr with the software and button layout. I tried using the iphone but they suck in poor light. What is amazing is how cheap they are getting...basically use it till it breaks and get a new one. tobias 12-10-2010, 02:58 PM Don't forget about the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS models. If I had a choice, I'd get the Panasonic now. For now I use Olympus 770SW. I did buy the Panasonic for my folks so I get to play around with their Lumix. scottw 12-10-2010, 03:00 PM I have the Pentax Optio W80, really put it through the ringer this year and love it.....I struggle a bit with the night phography but I should probably spend some more time with the owner's manual this off season... vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
