Didn't happen

So last night was our first Christmas and after dinner with the family we went back to her place to exchange gifts. in the corner was a long slender package standing about 5' tall and had my name on it. i'm thinking BAM! new rod! She waited till the end to give me that one i was excited like the kid Ralphie from Christmas story. I couldn't wait, i ripped open this package as if i was a 5 year old remembering first Christmas paper flying everywhere, only to find a extend-able freaking ice scraper from Benny's.

With the look of disappointment on my face the ol'lady looks at me and says aren't you curious what i returned.

I replied "well kind of " she said well i went to Bass Pro shop and bought you some things but you bought them already so i had to return them.

i asked her what kind of things. She said well you bought that fishing rod, the one you dropped off to have fixed or something, so i returned the one i got you.

Here is where i made the mistake i asked the question i should not have asked.

What rod did you buy and return.

She said you know the one with the black handle that has the kind of crizzy twisty wrap thinggy where the reel goes, you know the one you look at every time you go to Bass Pro. I figured you bought that other rod and didn't need another one. :smash:

I responded with - was it the one in the second isle 5' down on the left and was above everything else about 8 rods from the left? She responded with - why yes you know the one you like, you are practice casting with. :yak4:

i looked at her with discontent and said was it the St.Croix Mojo surf 2 piece 10'.6" rod with Fuji Guides.

She chipperly respondes and says YES THAT IS THE ONE!.

I look at her and said that's ok hun it the thought that counts thanks for the alarm clock, extend-able ice scraper and sweat shirts.:wall:

so remember its not the gift its the thought that counts. :deadhorse:

That's too bad man.

I played it smart this year and gave a list numbered from high priority to low.

She got the top 3 things I asked for. I lucked out, she's a good catch.

Good luck next Xmas skippy

Did you get the wreck fixed?

You could always sneak it into the repair bill.

That St. Croix is a great stick.

Skippy she sounds like she wants to stick around and get it for you next year. She might be a "keeper"

Sounds like a memorable Xmas.

My 7 year old gave me a folded up piece of lined notebook paper..
Outside says: To Dad from Jeremy

unfold it and inside it says

Merry Cristmas Dad. I'm sure you gave some presents to me too. So this my present(with S erased) to you

That one's going on the wall

I have a comment but I'm keeping it to myself,

As for gifts I am always thankful for what I get, or don't get
I just love that the family is all together for one day

Guys, my wife laughs when I tell people that joke. We heard it from an old commercial fisherman who we all loved. I wasnt serious, but wifey could have been if she said her gifts were 2 sizes too small.
