View Full Version : Are you a big spender in the winter?
Anthony 03-31-2003, 08:45 PM i know i am definitly a big spender during winter. I find that me buying a ton of stuff for fishing is kind of an escape from cabin fever. I know i have spent well over $400 in just tackle during this winter. How much and what kind of stuff have you guys bought for this up coming season?

JohnR 03-31-2003, 08:54 PM 15K and I'm not done
yes....because I snowmobile....:D $500 worth of parts (thats just MY sled) this past season alone! and that doesnt include travel lodging gas.....:D
hmm...fishing though...I buy all year round...if I see it and want it....and have to have it I find a way....then we sit around wondering why we are always broke! DUH!
hmm..gonna make myself sick here but since I hung the waders up last fall....probably al least another $500 on fishing! Rod, hip boots, lures, line, etc.
one thing my husband and I agree on is that we both suck with money to begin with, hobbies dont help the matter, and heck you cant take it with you so you might as well blow it now and enjoy it while you can! (well thats what we say to make each other feel better anyway... )
So John ..
You really did it ??
Will we soon be welcoming you to the dark side !!!!
What will your pedestrian fisherpeople think.:D
I manage to spend probably 1K a year on boat/fishing stuff.
But I don't really know what I've bought!!:smash:
mikecc 03-31-2003, 10:34 PM Goose has a good Idea but even my wife doesn't know ;). I understand that it's going to cost me a few plugs to keep Goose quiet.:D .
Now my wife says shell give him one more plug to tell than my best offer to keep him quiet.:wall: :wall: :wall: :crying:

Mr. Sandman 04-01-2003, 07:00 AM I have ordered loads of fishing stuff. The UPS and US Mail delervery people both know I am "into" fishing. While standing in the PO line the other day, the nice lady behind the counter said..."Oh...that reel for your new rod has arrived" everyone turn and looked at me, my wife said, "another reel?", uhh yeah, this one is for you dear! ....its getting so I can't sneek in any fishing purchases.
I tend to order something online almost daily. Please don't make me add it up....please, I would be embarrassed by the figure.
My umbrella rigs and two new cast nets came yesterday...look nice....
Waiting to purchace electronics after I see how much pain I have to suffer this April 15h.
JohnR 04-01-2003, 07:31 AM Van - no walks to the dark side. I am still much the fat rock hoppah where the satisfaction of removing large linesided object from the suds is still the ultimate. But I will be able to do damage on 2 scenes now. Plus my son is a lot closer to scup & seabass from the boat than schoolies & weakies in the surf.
I see how you got Michael Moore in your sights keep your toys lookin new,,, she'll never know! You bought a water buffalo gun??
Big Vern 04-01-2003, 08:13 AM If you ask my wife, she say that I spend WAY too much on fishing stuff.
If you ask me, I'll say I spend way too little on fishing stuff.
All in all, it sort of balances out to a healthy level of spending.
Mr. Sandman 04-01-2003, 08:20 AM In a recent SWS there was a study that discussed the economic benifits between rec and comm fishing. It turns out that recs spend aobut $160/lb of fish caught when you add in what they spend on boats, fuel gear, etc doing much more to stimulate the overall economy...
mikecc 04-01-2003, 08:27 AM You bought a water buffalo gun??
7mm Mag
ok...lets not even get into the amount spent on guns!
my husband learned a new trick.....gun for sale...he tells me its for ME and I give in!!!!! who's the fool ????;)
macojoe 04-01-2003, 12:42 PM Have boat will spend!! All the time!!
As I get better at fishing I want better fish rods, reels, hooks, ect.,ect...
Now I have started to build my own rods, and can't stop!! I have rods for everyone I no.
Now I wish someone would have told me I would have to buy reels for all these rods.
