Looks like i got bad info... I thought i got my information from the horses mouth but looks like i got it from the donkey.
I apologize to everyone for any confusion i have caused.
I called RI DEM because of my Dad who is a MA senior resident, and for my family member and friends that are disabled. The woman i spoke with gave me the wrong info which i passed along.
I got an email from a friend who also told me my facts were off.
RI seniors still need to get a RI license but it's free and he wasn't 100% sure but said you might be able to do it on-line and print it out.
Those that are disabled only need proof of disability.
Sorry for any confusion i caused as i am still scratching my own head.

They are good to fish in MA for free but require a license for fishing in RI waters. .
Leptar...This is BasicPatrick on my wife's computer. There are many confusing issues in your post. Here is a clarification of one.
All seniors in MA are required to have a license. They are not exempted from having a license. The license is required but is free (except that some service providers may charge a processing fee). I do not know about how RI handles it's Seniors.

BP,
Perhaps you can answer this question as well,
Are the "Registration" cards that were issued last year being "honored" as Licenses until their printed Expiration dates, or are we still required to obtain a "License" before we start fishing this year making last year's "Registration" cards useless?
Also, (really reaching now)...will "they" be sending "License" applications to those of us who did "Register" last year?
I understand that the "Registration" has close to nothing "to do" with this year's "Licensing", ...I just thought I'd ask as you always seem to be up to speed on the "Political" side of our fishing.
Thanx in advance, even if your answer is....

The one you got from the FED last year expired 12/31/2010. I got my new senior license from RI yesterday on line, you get 2 copies, they are free and they also send you one by e mail.

As of yesterday, you are required to have a SW fishing license in Massachusetts and NH. You were required to have one last year in RI, CT, and NY, but because in the delay in getting the RI license going, RI's DEM accepted the Federal Registry card (which was free last year) as a substitute for a valid license. As of yesterday, the Federal card won't cut it in RI any longer.

The expiration date on my card is 04/04/2011 ....but I guess it's good for nothing at this point.
Thanks Mike P.
