John...those ads you see in the banners are geared toward what YOU search for on the net...it is personalized advertising...

Slingah,

You mean that the Capital One ad that I am looking at
right now was programmed specifically for me based on what
other websites I have visited. But I haven't gone to any
credit card sites recently. Big Brother is here. :fury:

Sometimes, those ads are Google Ads and sometimes reflect what has been searched from your computer. Its uncanny (and sometimes scary) how accurate it can be. I've seen a few instances where it popped up ads for stuff I'd been thinking about but had not gone online for yet.

Other ads are by companies targeting specific demographics.

It can be scary. I was searching online for lighting fixtures this past week and now all week I've been getting ads for lighting places.

I'm occasionally getting an ad pop up in my lower right corner from Price Gong..... drives me nuts. Have to either close the browser or can sometimes put it snooze mode for an hour. Can't find it to delete it....:smash:

I do ZERO ad popups - none. Just the rotating banner ads and Google ads

If it happens when you are only on this site, you may want to scan your system for threats : Malwarebytes section: http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripertalk/computers/51512-quick-dirty-how-clean-speed-up-your-computer.html is a good start
