Clogston brought up Sebile Plugs (http://www.striped-bass.com/Stripertalk/stripertalk/68356-thoughts-sebile-away-canal.html) away from the Canal and Luds brought up the Stick Shad in particular.

I would love to hear more on the Stick Shad as well.

I have had some success with them at the canal with an erratic motion mixed between lots of tug and flutter or a more conventional, constant retrieve with occasional jerks.

Tried the stick shad outside of the canal a couple times in deeper water but don't recall specific success on it, but I did have a couple bumps once that I recall.

I caught alot of fish on the stick shad early in the year. For me it was a better producer then the magic swimmer. The stick shad casts great, and was subject to violent strikes after a slow retrieve then a jerk and pause. It did seem to get alot of smaler fish,no big ones on it for some reason. Maybe this year I will try and let it sink a bit lower in the water column before starting the retrieve.

Most of the lures in the Sebile line are in a class of their own and really pretty cool to think of what some of them are capable of. The stick shad is one of those and by far my favorite so far. First designed for pike this lure has taken off around the world for many species. Its also found its way into the canal. The lure which resembles a glide bait/spook is a mix between the two with an action that is in a class of its own. The bait works well with any action imparted on it. I have caught fish both violently jerking and reeling it back and I have done just as well with a rod tip held high just twitching it every 10 to 15 feet letting the current work the lure as it loves current. I like the floating models versus the others, but at times the sinking model has a place. Both the 155 (6-1/4") and 182 sizes are great, and I have taken and seen some monster fish taken on the 182 which is 7-1/4" and the fl models weighs 3-5/8oz, the sinking 4-3/4oz, and the fast sink 5-1/4oz

The lure has also produced for me on the boat as well and from the surf. The technique used over deep water was to point at the lure and reel pausing for a few seconds at times. I got to fish with Patrick Sebile this spring in CCB and we smoked them using this method. It was easy and really seemed to bring fish up from the deep as they were down 60 to 80 feet and would come up for the baits. He filmed an episode with Dalberg the day prior to us heading out which just aired on tv.

There has been some controversy to the hardware that these lures come with, and though I understand peoples point of view. This fw lure was never designed for this type of fishing. Sebile does make a saltwater model and even has a monster stick shad coming for the tuna crowd which can work for bass. This model is the Salt and Sun series, which come foam filled, heavy duty split rings and owner st66 hooks. I still prefer the fresh model and it is cheaper on the wallet as the S&S will run you about $10 to $15 more depending where you buy it.

I'll post some pics on ways to rig ur baits to get the most out of them. These lures really do catch fish and almost even spoil you to the point that on a day of 1 or 2 fish you want to commit suicide :lol:

Here's a few pics of the new stick shad 210 which will be 8-1/4" long and weigh 5-1/2oz on the floating model and 8oz on the sinking. This lure has a machined hanger that you could hang a truck on lol

I have never seen a lure cause big fish 30 to 40+lb fish Tbone a lure and come completely out of the water for time and time again like I've seen with the stick shad

Heres a few ways to rig any of the sebile freshwater models to get the best out of them. The ones with the single middle treble are 155 models.
