Does any one catch Stripers this time of year around the Canal or North river? I want to try but would like input and feedback if I'd be wasting my time.

Thank you
Michael

I don't know about the north river but you can forget about the canal......best bet is saltwater creeks that turn brackish and have freshwater springs/springholes in them.....I'm guessing that would be true about the n. river.............

I've had my share on the Charles and Mistic rivers. Never tried the North, but don't see why not.

Have never bothered to try the n. river this time of year. I wouldn't doubt there are some but would think you'd have to head father up river to more fresh brakish water.

Last I saw the n river was clear of ice up until just downstream of 53.

There are probably holdovers in the river but the lack of shore access along the majority of the holding water makes it tough on foot.

I've taken a few casts from shore time to time but have never caught one in the winter.

A boat with a graph is the best way to find wintering fish.

I used to know of an old timer down there who would make it a point to catch a keeper every month of the year. He always got his December through March fish there. Nothing huge, but still some small keepers.
