Looks like a sensationalist headline. I don't see the big deal. Remove the tax cuts and people will stop making movies here and the state will see less revenue and jobs.

There's a reason budget films (and a lot of major productions) are made in Vancouver.

If you were to assume that without the tax cuts, they'd still film movies here... Yup. The studios are spending millions of dollars at local businesses, that helps keep people employed and brings in tax revenue. Whereas if the tax cuts weren't there, they would make their movie somewhere else = few jobs, less money into the local economy.

What they're really saying is "learn to read".

A percentage of what they saved from the tax breaks "could" have gone to the actor's salaries.

Probably just bought them more hookers and blow.

This article is stupid.

Unions..Unions...Unions.. welcome to Ma.
And just about every single other place that movies are made, along with just about ever other major industry.

The MA Unions are child's play compared to some other regions of this country. I've been wresting with some in Las Vegas for a job I have out there at the end of the month. And don't get me started on Chicago, San Francisco or NYC.

You have to ask yourself, who runs the union that controls all those jobs? Therein lies the powerabout the tax credits. Its one thing giving tax credits for jobs that are permanent, but.........

Unions..Unions...Unions.. welcome to Ma.

The only people unionized are the set builders etc.
Has nothing to do with the production companies choosing a location and getting a break from the state.

Actors unions nor the set builders unions pick the location for the movie production.

If there's ANYTHING it has to do with, its the MPAA.
