View Full Version : Pats -v- Jets Playoff Game Thread (7:30 start for Larry)
JohnR 01-16-2011, 10:48 AM 4:30 Game start.
Predictions:
Expect to see a much tighter game than the last time they played.
The team with the most points will win.
If the Jets can score more points, they will win.
If the Pats score more, they will win.
Seriously, I won't predict - too superstitious.

Ok Bill :devil2:
Should be a better game being predicted. No way the Jets are going to roll over...
Just got done chipping ice and it feels a heck of a lot colder than 31 outside.

stcroixman 01-16-2011, 10:57 AM key matchups I will watch
Mangold vs Wilfork - 2 best in league
Chung vs Keller - Sanchez needs Keller down the middle
Scott vs Gronkwski - Brady looks for him in red zone
Both teams must stop the run
Special teams and turnovers are huge in big games.
We got the grill ready in the garage and plenty of beer- GO JETS!!
rphud 01-16-2011, 10:57 AM I was thinking it should be a close game until I watched Green Bay last night. I think Brady and Coach are on a mission, and that usually bodes very badly for the other team.
spinncognito 01-16-2011, 10:57 AM Pats should win but I will be the first to admit I am slightly concerned. The Jets will need to do something unexpected (read- trickery) and wn the special teams battle to have a chance. Really, though the Pats will only lose if they beat themselves which is highly unlikely. Stay away from the stupid penalties (reactive personal fouls) and protect the football and then bring on the Steelers :jump1:
stcroixman 01-16-2011, 11:00 AM everyone expects Smith to throw out of wildcat.
Watch out for Tomlinson - has 20 career TD passes from halfback option
striperman36 01-16-2011, 11:01 AM after this game, the AFC championship and the big one maybe anti-climatic. GB though is gonna be tough
afterhours 01-16-2011, 02:19 PM the head says patriots by 17.....the gut says patriots by 6. go patriots!!!!!
spence 01-16-2011, 02:31 PM I think the first quarter will be telling. Either the Jets have come to play or they have not.

flyvice11787 01-16-2011, 06:00 PM That fake punt will haunt the Pats.

nightfighter 01-16-2011, 06:28 PM Could easily be 21-3 or 17-3 right now.... Let's see if they can find out where they left their sac after the interception....
striperman36 01-16-2011, 06:33 PM Jet's defense is good today.
afterhours 01-16-2011, 07:02 PM jets playing good solid football- we are very rusty and tired looking...
nightfighter 01-16-2011, 07:22 PM I think we are outta time....... Jets have executed a good gameplan......

agsurfr 01-16-2011, 07:51 PM Ouch. I'm gonna be hearing A LOT of jets chatter now. I guess those guys can talk all they want.
Bill and Rex had a surprisingly long meet after the game. No 2 second "Nice game coach"

Piscator 01-16-2011, 08:18 PM Went to my neighbors to watch the game, had to keep him from kicking the dog.................
I used to get worked up about this stuff, bottom line is that in the next day or week, it will be non effective in my life.
striperman36 01-16-2011, 08:23 PM it's a shame to lose they seemed to really have a good second half of the season.
Now, I can go work in the ManCave
TheSpecialist 01-16-2011, 08:27 PM Look when the season started no one thought the Pats would win 10 games this year, never mind the Superbowl. They went 14-2, won the AFC East, and had a 1st round bye in the playoffs, they will be back better than ever next season.
Slipknot 01-16-2011, 10:25 PM :wall::smash::fury:
I'm PISSED frozen and extremely disappointed:smash:
kudos to the jets for playing better than the pats, jets made very few mistakes, the pats made lots of mistakes and missed on lots of execution
I thought they were gonna pull it off
with 11 minutes to go they went down the field time wasting away with no sense of urgency and get a frieking field goal instead of 7 and wasted all that clock wtf, the fans were pissed, we were screaming at them.
I'm pissed
THAT SUCKED
Looks like I'll root for GB
stcroixman 01-17-2011, 07:25 AM That blowhard John Dennis is choking on humble pie on NESN this morning.
His arrogance the last 2 months was over the top. Always respect your opponnents.
Sanchez isn't as good as Brady and probably will never be, but he reminds me of Phil Simms who was good enough to win 2 SB's
wader-dad 01-17-2011, 07:43 AM As a Jet fan I am shocked. I am the pessimistic kind of fan based on our history but my wife had me cheer them on for a change.
You guys have 2 number 1 picks, 2 number 2 picks and 2 number 3 picks so that sucks.
Good game.

Hopefully the union and the owners can get together so we have a season next year. Knuckleheads...

Jeff Hoestettler won the Giants second SB. Simms was hurt and watched from the sidelines ;)
Saltheart 01-18-2011, 12:54 PM Jets played good, the Pats didn't.
4 plays cost us the game....... 2 turnovers...... 1 dropped pass in the end zone (that ball was so caught that everyone where I was got up for pit stops and reload food , etc , then he just dropped it ) Unbelieveable...... 1 totally screwy fake punt.
I thought the receivers did not work hard trying to get free after initial patterns were unsuccessful. Brady had lots of throwing time but the receivers just seemed to run the primary pattern then quit.
I hate to say it but I also thought Brady played poorly. The interception was a real bad throw (like a basketball gentle jumpshot) and in adition to him throwing it bad , his intended receiver actually turned around to see who brady was throwing it to instead of jumping up to snag it. I also thought he missed lots of open guys. now maybe they look a lot more open on TV than they actually were but I thought he missed a lot of chances. he played a great season , best QB in the league this year by far. Just had a bad game IMO.
Wait til next year. They're gonna be great!!!! :)
FishermanTim 01-18-2011, 03:14 PM It could've been worse......I could have PAID to see the game!
It did seem like the Pats were flat for at least 3 quarters.
Hey, at least we got to see the Manning brothers eat humble pie as well!
Next year is just that...Next year.
Draft picks don't mean a thing (remember Eli Manning?), so I wouldn't get too excited until the season begins.
OK, bring on the C's and the B's......
