striperman36 01-18-2011, 06:07 PM Friday into Saturday is setting up for an epic Tabbit.
Saturday night will see 0 F in BOS and -10 - 15F at Tabbit windchills could be -30F
And NOW
It's not looking good for Tuesday!!
Beer anyone? :biglaugh::biglaugh:
tynan19 01-18-2011, 06:28 PM Where is that info from Billl? I see 2 low friday night going up to 16 on Sat. Sat overnight will get cold again to -6. I think the morning day will be brisk but bareable. Wind during day around 10 which could be a little chilly. Just need extra boiled brandy.
striperman36 01-18-2011, 06:31 PM NWS is sayin potential artic cold Saturday night.
Still a ways off, but been watching this storm on Friday night all day. The boys at Accuweather are all excited.
tynan19 01-18-2011, 06:42 PM Just checked Accuweather site well have to see. I generally dont use them at all. Most of their snow predictions are way off. I usually pay close attention to weather due to snowmobiling and doing everything outside and find that Weather.com is the most accurate site for any type of weather but thats just my opinion. Tabbit is Sat as well not sure if your thinking its Sun.
O.D. Mike 01-18-2011, 06:43 PM So whats it look like for accumulation for Friday night?
striperman36 01-18-2011, 06:48 PM There's a quite a few good weather sites. I don't like accuweather either. I just have contacts with the meteorologists.
I still think the NWS is pretty good with the bigger models.
Weather.com has good stuff, they are good meteorologists and have local contacts to make good pointcasts
Still thinking though we are getting more friday night, not sure how much of a wrap of Artic air we are going to get, it's changed significantly over the 3 model runs today and will again before Friday.
The storm track for Tuesday is close to what the models show for Friday, but a little farther offshore and a good 168 hours out.

1.5 inches of water with weather in the 20's.
Raven 01-18-2011, 06:50 PM weather dot com changes as often as the wind
their ten day forecast is a friggan JOKE
first its a week of rain then the next day all sunshine all week
then it sometimes changes back :point: it's Insanity over there
they'll throw anything up on that chart
just to keep their advertisers happy IMHO
they are accurate sometimes on temperature
with- in a few degrees
but they are environmentally challenged
best bet....step outside Heh heh
or ask Bill (aka Striperman36)

Go Outside.
tynan19 01-18-2011, 08:27 PM All 10 days are a joke. I bet on 2 day then night before for final decision. Weather.com said 12 p change to rain today. At exactly 12 p it changed to rain lol. If your planning on anything to do with the outdoors especially winter related you best be paying attention to weather forecasts or you could be in trouble.

that's when meteorologists normally make the call, or later if they can, last week they didn't commit till 24 hours, the models were so divergent.
We all know to look at the weather in some way, it's part of what we do.
weather.com got lucky, actually everyone did, this storm the models tracked very well for the last 72 hours. there was excellent tracking for the infiltration of mid-level warm air that marched out from the coast for saw that a few days ago. As is said , the best job is to be a meteorologist you can be wrong over 50 pct of the time and still have a job.
